With the current instability affecting Port-au-Prince, how are Dominican businesses (DR based companies doing business in Haiti and Dominican/Dominican-Haitian companies founded and based in Haiti) doing there?

I was looking at this real estate project that was developed in Port-au-Prince by ARCO. Despite in the beginning of the video he says it’s a Haitian company, there is an ARCO in Santo Domingo. They’re the builders of towers such as Arco Paradisso in La Esperilla, SD and many other real estate projects in the DR. It could be this is a branch in Haiti. In fact, he interviews someone presented as a co-owner of ARCO Haiti, Ricardo Caro. Not only with a name like that chances are high he’s Dominican, but he says it and he speaks English with a typical Dominican accent. Plus, on his left arm the shirt has logos of the flag of Haiti next to the flag of the Dominican Republic while in front is the logo of ARCO, which means it’s a company shirt or was given to him by the company. It could be Haiti has a similar requirement as the DR where foreign companies must associate with a local if they want to do business in the country, which in that this company in Haiti could be the result if Dominican-Haitian partners.

The houses themselves though following architectural styles that are found in many places, there is something about them that makes them what is found in several places in the DR. That architectual style arrived in Haiti via the DR?

On the right is the Dominican that is interviewed in one of the houses still underconstruction. He also mentions a woman in the beginning of the video as the person related to the company that he knew and made it possible to show this, quite frankly that sounds like a Dominican name.

This satelite image I printscreened after rather quickly finding the real estate complex in Google Earth, it appears at the time of the photo many of the homes were inhabited judging by the cars in the driveways.

The video is from 3 years ago, before the insecurity issue was as bad as it has become. That lead me to wonder how are they doing with the current issues, if they have other previous and current real estate projects in Haiti and how Dominican businesses in Haiti in general are doing?
