A nice way for a quick refreshing from the heat is an ice cream.

Puro Zumo (This one is a relatively new brand which I think is still limited to some supermarkets in Santo Domingo. This one has the benefit of being from organic sources and with no added sugar).

PS. For many of them the selection is much greater than what is shown.

Valentino's and Chiky (if you can find it). Bon for everyday type of ice cream.

Some if the stores of Nacional (definitely in the new store on c/ Camino Chiquito) and Sirena has them. They are also in a few more places.

For the other brand my favorite is Magnum bars. Ridiculously expensive but they are a great treat.
Should look into a Dairy Queen franchise here.
Burger King has some great pictures of ice cream treats but in my first 5 years here they never once got it right.
After pointing at a picture of a great looking banana split and getting a shitty cream soda float, I threw in the towel. BK won that round

A brand which is available at Nacional but didn't know is Dominican is Saverio's Gelato. With the Italian name for ice cream, I thought they were foreign. lol

They have a store on Roberto Pastoriza, SD close to the KFC on the corner with Winston Churchill (the ice cream shop is about a block away on the same side as the KFC). Have yet to try this, but they were in The Best of DR 2022 list of Mercado magazine. Whatever makes it to that list usually is good.
