I got there when they opened at 8 AM and was out the door with my new license at 8:30 AM. The most efficient Gov run place I have ever seen anywhere..............

Did you have to make an appointment online? In La Vega you do. Very efficient place and they even had English speakers for assistance if needed.

SHHH that place is the best secret in DR I always go in the afternoon than go to cash and carry for some lunch and chat with my little Columbiana ..

There is no exam per se, but they give you an IPAD with about 26 Si or No questions which should all be answered NO. A lot of health questions which will trigger a red flag.

Ah ok, yes had that too but had the lady answering it for me, some trick questions and one or two on the end had to be answered with yes as I remember.

You were fortunate since 3 months before expiration is the "rule" for the earliest renewal.

I renewed at the same place as SKY in January. Mine had expired in 2022. Took about 45 minutes as we got there at around 10:45 and was quite busy.
Cost was $3300 rd and basically hassle free
