So which is Camino Viejo? Is that the unmade road that leaves the main road opposite La Cienega/Costa Azul? No entry through Coconut Palms area any more?

It is the sand/dirt road that runs east from Encuentro surf beach along the ocean and ties into where El Rocon used to be, passing by a few large houses that are on the ocean and then comes out between Costa Azul and La Cienaga road. I am not sure if the entire stretch of road is called Camino Viejo, but it could be. There ain't no street sign, eh?

Coconut Palms is now called Ocean Palms. I have no idea about access from the Ocean Palms entrance of the main highway to Encuentro. Has anyone gone in that way of late?

Yeah maybe, but not that hard to have an opinion. The law is fairly straight forward re setbacks and access. With a few minor detours.

Indeed with respect to the law, but the law is bent frequently by the mayors. Bent is a kind word.

In the picture of what is not currently open on post 64, I think the part of the old road, which shows as closed, the part leading along the coast which leads to the main surfing area which is at the west end of that road and was the access road before just might be on public land within the 60 meters of the high water mark.

At least there is that new path showing as opened for 4X4 just north of it.n The picture below was taken at Encuentro recently:

They cut out 10 meters of the measuring tape?

From July 24 at Encuentro Libre on Facebook and as I thought about the original road:

Today we were able to see an unidentified environmental commission with investor s' lawyer. We saw disagreements over the 60 meters which correspond to the district of cabarete. In all measurements made today the 60 meters include the old road. They were present our uaw defending our right, the board of neighbours of Cabarete, of la cienega and Pearl Marina and sportsmen and surf lovers of the beach meeting.

One comment on the measuerments taken at Encuentro beach by someone on Facebook:

Anthony Vogelaar: In the old days when they had the surveyor and the inspector on site to measure the 60 meters from the high tide line, the tape used was missing 10 mts in the middle from 30-40 mts and it never was noticed.

That would be "so Dominican" if true. (and the old road was still within the 50 meters left of the tape anyway.) Hilarious.

And then, the town came in with a front end loader and large dump truck to collect the rocks used to block the road and take them away.

Roadblocks are put in, roadblocks are taken away....

As of one hour ago ,the roadblocks are there. There is only one entry left now through the security gate.
Cars cannot go/park anymore next to the beach but can park in a new parking just built .

It looks as if visitors who pass the security gate will now have the pleasure of passing that huge derelict monstrosity.

What's the idea of having a security gate with a sign saying "Propiedad Privada" and then providing a car park?

What about access via the sandy access path/road from the east (going directly east from the parking area in your first picture above) that runs along the beach toward where El Rocon used to be before that illegal construction was cleaned out by the government?

Not anymore. It's blocked with rocks.Only entry is now through the security gate and the only place where u can go is in the new parking.

See pictures from the bird.

Thanks for those aerial pics drisforme.

That blockage of the road from the east is so clearly illegal I hope it can be easily overcome.
