Castle: I see you're a bit of a conspiracy theorist. I highly doubt Chavez, a dying man, cares that much about The DR right at this moment. The DR is not Nicaragua, Bolivia, etc...where left leaning parties were already well established. The left in The DR is a joke nowadays.
In terms of the military trust me when I tell you neither Candelier or Soto Jimenez have the b@lls to start anything. These guys are no Chavez...say what you will about Chavez, his policies, etc., but the guy has huge b@lls which he proved by staging a coup against a very corrupt and violent government when he was just a simple paratrooper. Soto Jimenez is more interested in the "high life" and hanging out with "celebrities" like Tono Rosario and chasing after models. Candelier on the other hand cares about getting rich and hanging out in his Casa de Campo villa with his buddies.
