Just the Dominican Business Model,in play,........If you cant compete, eliminate the competition!!!!!
Does ANYONE think this is to clean up sex tourism, or prostitution, in the DR????????
NO, just to see that Dominicans control it!

Doesn't seem to be prostitution per se, although there has been crack downs on that in several areas, including the capital.

Seems to be sex tourism.

There is a difference.

Could be a case of "I can call my sister ugly, but if YOU do I will kick your Pelosi."

Bingo!! In the past, I think there was an acceptable level of sex tourism that wasn't over the top. This ain't the Sosua of 15 years ago. All that talk about cruise ships, condos sales, yada yada yada, is just background noise to me. As you said, prostitution isn't the real problem.

Good article. This doesn't touch on others like CubaDave, the little AA dude that was doing porn, and some others that were either deported or made to feel so uncomfortable they left on their own.

Yes, if you remember cubadave cut his last visit short and wasn't back; maybe he was given the same option.

Yes, that's exactly what it's about. Everybody understands the "eliminate competition" method, but that's not the case this time.

Wasn't D'Latin closed? Was that considered a gringo owned business? Or was there something else that made D'latin an eyesore?

You can find Armando Casciati on Facebook, complete with pictures of him looking completely insane. His Sosua Bay manager looks like a whore, and a couple of the females pictured look like children. Maybe the DR is beginning to draw the line at child prostitution. As for Armando's whereabouts, my guess is that he'll be able to re-enter the DR from Florida or Canada, much like the assassin Tomas Reinis before he was allowed to slit his wrists as a permanent solution on the aircraft back to Hungary.

Big Change In Street Talk

Earlier in the week the talk on the street, at least among those that hang out in front of Farmacia Sosua and the little Playero was all in support of Armando.

Today the talk is that he was taking RD$500 from his girls.

I don't know about the bartender part. But the charge to prostitutes for doing their "work" in the disco is said to have been RD$500 per night.

He was charging them 100rd weekdays to enter before 11pm, 200rd after that. 500rd on weekends full stop. Never charged them in putting out,:D only when they wanted to enter the disco.

Still closed. Underage drinkers I think was the reason given at the time it was closed.

Most places where the girls work, charges an exit fee of 500 pesos when the girl leaves with a JOHN.
The girl gets her JOHN to pay it, not her!
The girls usually say its MORE, and keep the difference.

I've never heard of that in Sosua. I heard military guys who've been to Thailand talk about the bar fine. It only applied to girls that were employees of the bar and not girls who paid a cover charge and were hanging out in there. My impression was that the bar fine was to hire a replacement girl for the bar for the night. I've never heard of bartender leaving during their shift in Sosua. I guess it could be done though.

Also, I've never been to Classicos. Not on any moral grounds, I was told by guys that they were having to pay a cover too. I don't like to pay covers anywhere. With all the people coming and going in and out of the bars on PC, I've never noticed anyone pay a bar fine in Sosua. I would think security would be stopping people at the door to collect it if it was being paid. It could be underground somehow I guess, but I've bar hopped with a dominican girl and gone through Rumba and D'Latin when it was open. I've never paid a cover. I've only ever heard of covers at Classicos, the VIP area in D'Latin, and After 1.

Since i can remember smaller bars charged a salida of RD300 to 500. Peter started out with a RD500 salida back in 2005. Monica was always gone as soon as she arrived. Flamingo also had a RD500 salida and so didn't Coyote when it was by Bora Bora ( now the former Passions ) . So yes salidas were the norm in the past.

You're not really speaking from a position of knowing much about the subject and seem to be far off the mark.
I'm just wondering why?

The Salida, can go to the Taxi/Moto guy who brought the customer to the bar.
There are MANY financial dealings involved when a girl leaves a bar, casa de cita, car wash, ANY Place they WORK!
Sometimes the girl ends up with less money than the bar owner, and the Taxista.
Then THAT money goes to her Pimp/Novio/ or Esposo, sometimes all three!
And THAT is not only here in the DR, but every country in the world.
I KNOW!!!!!!
