It really does eventually happen! Yesterday, I received my residency card and cedula good for four years! I've been here since September 2010 and started the residency process in December of that year! Five years of temporary residency renewals and one year of permanent residency and finally, I have a four year reprieve!

I did...by only a couple of months! And I blame my original lawyer for that! He messed up big time and it cost me a bunch of time and money but I finally got there anyway. The lawyer has since fled to Columbia for other reasons so no one has to worry about using him!

Certainly is, I got in under the old system. One year temporary and Bingo permanent residence. I proved solvency by having a bank account. No minimum balance needed just an account...……….
i believe the law is that minimum of 10 years with perm residency is required for definitiva (valid for 10 years). but anything can change by 2022...
