Girls in Santo Doming a lit bit fat ?
I know many Dominican women that exercise, either at home or in a gym. One thing I noticed in Costa Rica was the amount of both men and women riding bikes for exercise. This I've never seen in the DR, perhaps because the road are so dangerous. One thing I've notices is many of the girls I've know since they were little, if they move to the states they get really fat.
i think it is all in the lack of education and lack of interest. majority of dominicans have no idea about their own health. i cannot tell you how many clients we have in the pharmacy who take the very same pill every single day and yet they still cannot remember the name ("dame mi medicina para azucar"). they coud not give less s**t, really. when they wait for they "sugar meds" they have few bizcochos, why ever not? even those who do have an education do not seem to care. there will always be some my-aunt-was-fat-and-she-lived-to-be-hundred stories to prove you how stupid you are with your gringo gibberish about the importance of heathy diet.
Yes they (WE) are all getting fatter due to modern conveniences, more availability of fatty foods, etc. Back in the days hardly anyone had a car or even a passola, but now everyone does so nobody walks anywhere. It used to be you drank water with your meals and soda was almost an indulgence - Something you'd drink once in a while - but now everyone has a soda or beer with their meals and not to mention the fast food chains you now have in the larger cities.
In places like Cotui there were no pizza places until about 8 years ago, now they are all over the place and of course people looove them.
Attitudes are changing though. It used to be that to be "gordito" was a sign of prosperity, but now is just that you're fat, so the good thing is that in places like Cotui where again there was none of this in the past now we have like four "gyms" as well and you now see people walking or jogging by the Dam, including me.

the resolution isn't high enough to be sure, but I think I'm seeing some evidence of photo manipulation there.
I think that we may have been conditioned to believe that some things are simply too good to be true.
Nothing a fisheye lens or a circus mirror can't cure.
