2500 pesos a month or 25,000 for the year. A bit expensive but it is a nice facility and never crowded.

is it two and half times nicer than the casino gym

HAHA...that's a good question. i went to the casino gym, AKA Platinum's, for 2.5 years. it's a nice gym, i like it. But i changed to Gold's becuase it was closer to cabarete for me and i was riding a bike back and forth from cabarete. but the other things i really like about Gold's is that they always have soap in the bathroom and in the showers. Always! The casino gym, aka Platinum's, seldom had soap. also, gold's gym give you a nice big towel and a locker key as soon as you walk in; they also have the A/C cranked up, and they have a really nice boxing room upstairs with 4 punching bags--all different sizes, speed bags, etc. Platinum has two of these as well, but Gold's gym has more and they are of better quality.

One small thing i did not like about platinum's was that they would play the music very, very loud like a colmado, and i really disliked that. but they were always willing to turn it down if you asked. but the next day, it was up high as ever again. maybe they have gotten better.

Anyway, you can't go wrong with either gym...they're both nice.

I go to Platinum and am well satisfied with what I get for RD$1000/month. Well managed and good clientele. Loud music used to bother me, also, but that problem has been solved. Now I have no complaint about the volume.

Soap still not provided but if I wanted to shower there it would be very easy to keep a bar of soap in a plastic case in my gym bag.

As far as the elevator is concerned, I never use it. Can't understand why some people going to the gym for exercise don't walk up the stairs. Good for the legs and heart.

What ever happened to that other gym down the road from Playero, going towards the German buffet spot?

For the budget minded I recommend P90x at home. I do go to the gym once a week for my obligatory leg press workout and pullups.

Yes, they only use dispense type soap. Who uses bar soap these days inside a gym? Wait...scratch that, maybe a Dominican gym.

Repeating charges are the scourge of Gold's Gym subscriptions in the U.S. Fees are either billed directly to your bank card or taken from your bank checking account. 2 Year account agreements are the rule of the day, and account charges vary.
