Hi all - I will be traveling and staying at the Hamaca between Nov 4 - 8. I would appreciate information on any property damage or closures due to recent storms. Also, what temperatures can we expect?

Thanks!

recent storms? havent heard of any. Dean came close but nada. Even if there were a storm...hamaca looks like a fortress and can withstand a biggie)

expect high 80's and 90's.

BTW..not sure what kind of vacation you are planning..but hamaca is pretty much closed off from the rest of town. Hope that on your short stay you get out of the compound. I think the best part of the beach is on the end farthest away from hamaca where more local folks hang out. THere are also some other nice beaches in the area to check out that arent so crowded.

From the east end of the beach (Hamaca end) you can walk out. There are spiny sea urchins and sharp coral in places so wear good foot wear. I use dive booties. You can get one of the banana boat drivers to take you out to the bigger island across from the marina. For a small fee of course.

kyle...for the small mangrove ilsand...the shortest swim is near the where there is dock with some boats. you can wade nearly all the way there and then its about a 5 minute (most) over your head swim.

THe swim gets deaper around playa del sol (where i sit). and then gets deaper after you bet past the public area where the parking lot is.

I DO recommend some cheapo swimming shoes. More for broken glass etc around the island as the locals party up like heck on sundays as you well know.

THe snorkeling is nothing spectacular...but its fun out there. I really like it on quiter days when you are pretty much out there by yourself...and perhahps chat it up with a lone pescadoro. again...nothing spectacular...just a nice swim. You see some small baracuda and other small tropical fish...some octopus and in september there were some turtles (they were cool!). I really wish somoene some day would point out a better snorkeling spot that you dont have to pay a ton of money for (like saona).

I've never been the the bigger island by the big marina.

If you are lucky, you might see a few Coney Island Whitefish swim by!
