How long can I stay in the DR?

How long can I legally stay in the DR as a tourist? I thought it was 90 days, but last year I came down for exactly 31 days. At the airport just before getting your passport stamped, an officer looked at my paperwork and said that I had to pay $10 because I was there 1 day over 30.

I don't mind paying the fine by staying longer but it would be nice to know the law.
BTW - she told me not to worry and let go.

I've been here for 7 Years on a passport...I will owe about 17,000 if I left next Month, seems they don't care since all they want is overstay money..I could be wrong, but nobody is looking for me..LOL..You might want to check the legal section of the site..

I think, you might just take a trip to the haitian border to get your passport stamped and the 7 years overstay should then be turned into smoke or something simlilar...

With my luck?? Oh baby, I'd go there only to get busted by undercover DOM Police, then you can watch me on the next episode of LOCKED UP ABROAD...Well, almost the same as now so..LOL..Wanna take a ride RD??

To answer your question. Your tourist card is good for 30 days. Once you pass that point you must pay a penalty for over stay.

Legally for 30 days, practically until you run out of money...
