we have dash cams in both cars and park as we did before installing them. maybe the thieves think the cameras record all the time and it puts them off, who knows. but i never gave much thought to leaving stuff in the car anyways. if i leave a bag inside i put it under the seat so that it is not in plain view but shopping stays in the boot or on the back seats. never a problem.
