Perhaps readers mistook Montichiari ( his hometown in the Lombardy region of Italy) with Montecristi near the Haitian border.

 I young man I frequently see bumming around on El Conde was arrested for the murder of a retired doctor about a week ago on Espaillat near Las Mercedes. He also "confessed" to the crime after the beating subsequent to his arrest. The video of the perp running from the scene clearly shows to the untrained eye, that it was not the young man they had in custody. He said they were going to beat him to death if he didn't confess. He was released shortly thereafter.

Arrive new updates on the death of Victor Giuzzi, the 76enne Brescian Montichiari that in the night between 31 January and 1 February was killed at kicks and punches from an individual to Batista San Juan de la Maguana, in Dominican Republic, south-west of the capital city of Santo Domingo. On Sunday 4 February the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in contact with the authorities in the Caribbean, has confirmed the arrest of a person of the place. But it is not yet clear the motive of the crime. According to the initial information, the lone gunman would perhaps have been entered in one of the many plantations of properties of the brescian and with the intention of stealing of fruit.

there is nothing about this death in local media from san juan de la maguana either, i checked few outlets.
