I'll be staying at the Jaragua in September with my girlfriend. She wants her sister to come spend some time with us. I understand that if I register them as guests it wont be a problem, however her sister doesn't have a cedula. Does the jaragua require cedulas for every registered guest?

you can walk just about anyone in there....just walk in and go to the casino for a bit, mingle in the lobby and then go to your room, no questions asked ;)

In case anyone else wants to know the answer, I called the Jaragua and the policy is that all registered guests must have an ID. What you can get away with by sneaking around I don't know, I'm trying to do things legit.

LOL the forceinme, unfortunatley it really is her sister, and the JCE says 2 months to get a replacement Cedula. Shes a little disappointed but understands why her sister cannot be there.

If you stay at the jaragua and dont want any hassles, stay in the garden rooms, (in the back not the tower). there security is some what relaxed.

Sorry about the pun, you know how it is in forums sometimes :)

Her sister doesn't have ANY kind of ID? I am sure that you could arrange something with a birth certificate perhaps... a driver's license? Anything? They basically just want to avoid prostitution scandals, so if you can talk with then... regulations like these can be bent... in my experience at least.

I understand the pun, no problem. Thanks for the suggestion, when I called them I asked about a birth certificate and they said no, only a cedula or a passport was acceptable, they seemed very inflexible. Maybe they are more flexible in person, but I'm not going to take the risk of having to send her back home if it doesn't work out.

JCE can give her a printout paper with her photo and cedula info and all and it's valid as a temporary replacement for cedula, even for banking purposes. Just make sure it's an original with JCE stamp and signature. It IS an official document.

There are better hotels in SD than Jaragua why put up with the hassle?
