Still do not know what is happening with my holiday. As updated on this site Punta Can Breezes now closed until December as is the Breezes home page

Thomsons and Lunn Poly still not giving any information about the resort. Latest update is that Thomsons are now sending out there own assessors to check the health and safety aspects of the hotels and then they will make a decision. They will not have an update until Monday 27th Septemer. I am due to fly on the 30th September to Dominican.

What I do not get is if the hotel deems it necessary to advise customers that they are not taking arrivals until December (therefore greatly impacting their income) why are Thomsons questioning this. Are the going to force the hotel to take guests?

So to anyone booked through Thomsons don't get your hopes up that they will help in anyway

Stewart

For sure the hotel and your tour operator have your best interests as their priority because they want satisfied customers which equal repeat customers. If Breezes Punta Cana is not available, maybe you could consider this year Breezes Puerto Plata, so you get a chance to see the North Coast.

I think it is more the lack of information/ communication from the tour operator that is causing the frustration. I can get the information from here as well as from the Breezes website very easily whereas Thomsons will not even confirm there is a problem. If they could confirm to us what are options are this would be half the battle.

We really want to come to see the Island so hopefully they will sort it out. Our flight time is over 9 hours not including the travel time to London. We really don't want to be left in limbo by the tour operator.

Everyone within this site has provided the best information - I just wish Thomson would check here. Keep up the good reports

Palladium Bavaro

Palladium was listed among the hotels that closed for a week for cleanup. This means the hotel only suffered minor damages that could be fixed up in a short period of time.

The situation in Punta Cana will be back to normal next week as soon as the bridge connecting Santo Domingo and Punta Cana by land is opened. It is scheduled to reopen this Saturday, 25 September. Meanwhile, there are limitations especially in transportation.
Is this the hotel that you're talking about?? I'm staying here for vacation on Oct 6th. Any new update on the damages to it? And besides the hotel how about the excursions and fishing trips and the like, are they all back up and running??
Thanks for any info,
Cindy

The excursions and fishing trips should resume once you are here. The problem as of today, 25 September was one of sourcing gasoline/diesel. Reports are that an alternate route through Hato Mayor was opened up today, but it will take a few days for supplies to regularize.

Transat Toronto to Punta Cana cancelled Sept 26

Air transat has cancelled their Sept. 26 flight to punta cana. No reason was given, I imagine it may be related to the closue of PUJ(?)- no one seems to know if the airport is actually accepting flights.

t.o flights

Hey

Well apparently they are not cancelling the flights because the Punta Cana airport is closed (its operating normally) they are cancelling the flights becuase their are not enough people to fill the plane. Because a bunch of the resorts are not accepting new guests as of yet (this past weekend that is) their wasnt enoug people for the plane to take off. You figure some of those planes fillo up to 225 people and lets just say only 100 people can fly, they then cancel the flight. I know its a pain in the butt , also not fair.

By your date of 11 October you may have to look twice to notice that a Tropical Storm hit the area. Sosua primarily suffered landscaping problems, not problems to internet or electric service.

Also, since the DR suffers from continuous power problems, this destination like many others is prepared for long power outages anyway!

Thanks. I know about the general power problems already and the apartment we will be renting has a planta.

I had heard from two people in the area that some phone and electrical lines were knocked down with the trees and should be back up soon. Quite possibly they already are. I'm checking since the phone and internet are pretty critical for my wife and I's business needs.
