Santo Domingo. - The Drugs Control Agency’s (DNCD) commander in Najayo prison (south), who last weekend was attacked by the drug trafficking convict Manuel Mesa Beltr? (El Gringo), yesterday uncovered two marijuana gardens in the penitentiary.
Captain Orlando Stephan found 28 pot plants being cultivated by the inmate Carlos Lorenzo in cell 4, and five others of the convicts Sergio Asencio and Jose Agust?n Gomez, in the cell 3 of the jail.
DNCD spokesman Ramon Alcides Rodriguez said a surprise search by Stephan and other antinarcotics agents turned up the weed in those cells.
