That makes sense.
mine was an exact quotation. so then "lo que se ve" is -- that which you see.
Always get stuck with command I thought Don't ask. "no se pregunta" -- it is not asked-- not don't ask.
Correct?
In that context yes it means:
One does not ask or it is not asked. The reason why I emphasize in that context is because
preguntarse can also mean to ask oneself. The meaning is deciphered by the context.
Songs are great to get exposure to the language and different sentence structure, colloquialisms, expressions etc. I am an advocate. Song writers use the language in a totally different way because the lyrics need to follow a rhythmic pattern.
The pronoun
se can be a bit tricky to understand in Spanish since it has different grammatical functions, the passive voice being one of them and/ or when there is an unspecified subject. As well it can be used as a reflexive.
In that phrase
se pregunta is not a command. A command form would be for example :
Don’t ask (you- informal)
no preguntes
Don’t ask me (you- informal) –
no me preguntes
This reminds me of some nice salsa by Tito Rojas. One of his songs titled –
Lo que te queda has lyrics that exemplify
preguntarse as a reflexive construction.
Que
yo me pregunto
Cuando alguien me dice
Que lloras por m?
