unfortunately....

....the link is not accurate!

For example it states that Rocky's does not have safes but in fact it does, dating back at least 8 month perhaps almost 1 year now.

I didn't bother to check the rest as one mistake is enough for me to question the rest of the data.:ermm:
here is a link to guest friendly hotels in Sosua......the far right column had GF for either yes, no or ??

http://auction-fest.com/mytravelfest/SosuaHotelDirectory.htm

hopefully this is some help and think the person who has issue with safes needs to move on.....your messing up a very informative thread.....

Are there any "guest friendly" hotels that are a bit on the upscale side?

I know it's been answered but just some additional advice. Should you find yourself in the situation of paying for play, might be better not to pay in dollars unless you know for sure that they are bona fide dollars. A Dominican man in Puerto Plata paid for play in false dollars and she complained to the police and he duly got arrested.
APRESAN HOMBRE INTENTABA CAMBIAR DOLARES FALSOS

Her complaint was clearly legitimate but it probably won't take long for entrepreneurial minds to see the advantages of accusing gringo clients of paying in counterfeit money even when it isn't. Might be safer to pay in pesos. And hope no-one suggests that they are fake :cheeky:.

The beginning of the beach on the Sosua side (the public beach) is no more than a 5 - 7 min walk, it is very close.

In the other direction it is also no more than another 5 min walk to a more private beach associated with Casa Marina.

that's to bad....

Talking of fake pesos ......... we're not accepting any 2,000 peso notes any more since there are a lot of fakes about at the moment in POP.

Although I don't win a large amount all that often but when I do win a substantial amount in the casino they pay with 2,000 peso notes, I haven't had any problems using them yet, and I hope I don't in the future, or maybe I should stop winning. ;)

Slight correction

Another member of the board was kind enough to pm me with some info. I couldn't remember the name of the other beach associated with Casa Marina it is called Playa Alicia, and although they like you to think it is private it also is a public beach, with the public entrance along side one of the other hotels in the area, no more than 2 or 3 minutes from Sea Breeze.

A whole different vibe then the main beach. Only twice have I been hassled "guards" from Casa Marina, both times asking for a salida. Just say "No entiendo" and keep walking. This is really a tranquil beach with a bit of steep drop-off.

Still, the main beach is nicer and the vendors are not really a problem at all.

Rent a villa or condo if you want "Upscale"!

This is 100% correct but,

If it is you or your buddie's first trip and/or your Spanish is limited, then the hotel might be a better bet for the first trip.

Guest-friendly and upscale tend not to go together. That said, all the hotels listed as G.F. will all do the job.

Really, you need to be honest with yourself about why you are going to Sosua as a single guy. A waitress told me last week, "If you are not here for chicas, then why come to Sosua?"
