Half a pound of sugar lasts for a good several weeks in my house. I accompanied one of my SILs on her weekly shop and she bought more sugar than I've consumed in this century.

I only use sugar for bread making, we use Splenda for everything else, but in DR it goes fast. *Most of it, I think, gets carmelized for guisado-whatever, and coffee for everyone else.*

I limit sugar quite heavily, and when possible replace sugar with pure honey. No sugar for coffee as I use milk instead of water which dilutes the bitter taste.

RH, have you checked out lago verde yet? They make changes but in the wrong direction. The raft used to have nice wicker chairs, but they moved them to the VIP area. The place is too quiet for Domincans.
