renewal of residencia through office in Puerto Plata

This was my chronology for renewal of residency thru Puerto Plata just now. 13 days from completion of online application to OK to come to Puerto Plata to show originals. Four more days to get OK to pay RD$16,500 and do medical exam. Then told 15 Working Days before I can go to Santo Domingo to pick up carnets.

I am still with the temporary residencia, so I don't know, but I am sure you can find it on their website, because when I renewed my temporary, I just checked on their website to see what I needed. And then you do it all online.

What is the benefit of residency?

Getting a better paid job for example.
Or if you want to open a business it is a lot easier.
Also you can get your driver license.
You don't need to carry your pasport (and the risk of losing it) when you go the bank or claro
In some places you get discounts (ocean world, teleferico,....)

The only one I know of is Lazy Dog in Cabarete(10%) - and I'm not sure if they are still doing that(?).

I filled in the form to get my discount and never heard from them, so I don't bother going there if they're not interested in their own promotions.
