i dont think this question has been posed yet... if it has, i would like the link.

i will be needing some sawdust in the near future for my finca in the north coast. are there any sawmills in that general area where i can buy raw sawdust from untreated softwood or hardwood? i suppose bamboo dust would be fine as well as long as it was not treated with any toxic preservatives.

thanks in advance for any leads!

I do not see saw dust here. Normally here farmers use paddy husk. May be coir pith available in the NC because lots of coconuts are available in those parts.

I'm sure Pi2 will beable to help you out, just ask him over and shake his head about a bit, you'll either get sawdust or marbles, not completely sure which though!!

Rice husks is what they use to mix/lighten the soil.... plenty of that available.

Sorry if thats not your intended use.

rice husks can amend the soil, but i need(ed) the sawdust for a composting toilet (the jenkins design-- one theyve used in haiti recently-- i had a youtube link). the mods apparently refused to post my reply fully detailing my plan. i think finely shredded coconut husk/coir will do the trick if i cant locate it.

There's no approval process, and even if it was spam, they would have edited the details and/or told you to take out an ad. (And we'd still see the post.)

And seriously, sawdust and compost aren't on the list of topics that are taboo.
