Maybe just a bit late to be getting out while it's good. With interest rates so high property sales are lagging and people seem to be hunkering down and global money isn't freely moving as before.

Certainly Bailees is a good place for money laundering - Lots of cash being handled and with a new disco and hotel rooms I think 50,000 a week could be washed ?
So maybe that will prompt a sale.
Money laundering.. you have proof? Accusations are dangerous.

I know most places are always for sale. Been a lot, very public, in a short period of time. It feels different this time. I could be wrong but it feels different.
That was my first thought when I saw this too...seems like there is a mass exodus of late. wonder if there's some change(s) in the wind that are prompting all the sales?

It's never been easy to run a business here. Other than the massive AIs a lot fail. Added to that weak demand caused by fewer tourists caused by high interest rates and the cost of living crisis. And add to that Sosua hasn't got a great reputation and that's your answer. The smart money is going into Miches and Pedernales and the capital.

There really needs to be a development plan for Sosua with set obtainable goals and constant revision and adjustments to follow the plan.

It seems to me that whenever they put together a plan for the development of Sosua the constant revision and adjustments are just what cause those plans to go nowhere!

A development plan. Now, there's a novel idea for Willy! Maybe right after he finally finishes the sidewalk in the center of town.

They unveiled it after gringo round up fiasco 5-6yrs ago had big meeting about it and also apologized about round up, they want area to be retirement area and snowbirds that’s there plan ..and clean up flesh trade and mongering which seems to be working , time will tell with end results but definitely seems different even businesses that profited in that square block are re evaluating…Ahnvee done pretty much done now..

Other than moving the red-light district down to the other end of PC, the only development I've seen is the pretty "SOSUA" marquee as you come into town with those stupid blue concrete balls on the sidewalk.

Is this a fairly new building? I used to eat breakfast at a Baileys when we visited but it was a lot smaller than this is.

Sometime in 2019 Baileys which was the Restaurant Merged with Sosua INN Hotel .. and then they changed the name to Bailees ..... if you look at their Facebook Page you can sort of follow the change from the Photos .. it looks like they blended the buildings together into one business.
But , yes , Baileys was the Original Restaurant with the Thatched Roof .

Looks like they finally got the club on the top floor going. The story was that they couldn't get the licence because Willy was blocking it he wanted all the brothers to go to his club at the casino.

Which casino/club in Sosúa does Willy own, please?

I think the old Bailey's cafeteria made more money than that so called 'Sports Bar' in there now.
Covid killed that.....

I think so many businesses that hung on past the Covid hysteria never were able to recoup their loses and the volume of business never picked up to pre-Covid levels.
Add to all this the mandated wage hikes and runaway inflation and just staying in business with the clientele also having less discretionary cash to spend is more than one straw to break the Camel's back. I imagine some businesses are still losing money monthly.

One lesson we should all carry forward - fight back against lockdowns because they ruin economies.
I tried my best to voice my concern about harmful lockdowns, the dangers of forced vaccines and useless masks, but the 'Covid Karens' took over.

Casino/club Playa Chiquita, not sure what's up now but he was partner with Armando on 59. He used to own the clubs that used to be where the Chinese stores are now. He also owns a pension in Charamicos and is partner on P. Plata Coliseo Turistico. Probably has a few other places...
