Have any foreigners here (resident or non-) been involved in a lawsuit, either as a complainant or defendant? Property, business, labor, criminal, whatever? What would you do different the next time?

I thought non-residents cannot start a lawsuit in the DR. Without paying a bond equal to the claim which ought to nix that idea. Covering every form of lawsuit both sides, including criminal is a lot to ask. What is up?

Not Much

With so many old-timers (in the best sense of the term) with so many interests, has anyone had to seek redress in the legal system re: employees, business issues, matrimony, whatever? Even with decent Spanish and confidence in your representation, it couldn't be pretty.
Rick's right, so that category's a non-starter, I'd guess. Also, I wouldn't care to probe around in anyone's criminal defense or strategies, so please don't volunteer that sort of stuff either, OK?:paranoid:
