Perhaps someone with a solid knowledge could help me with this:
I have a good friend that is a professional woman here in the DR. I have had both professional and informal conversations and meetings with her. We (including my wife) had dinner with her last week. In messages to me last week she used as a salutation "Don Johne" several times. So... are there several ways that salutation can be used?
Your friend calls you Don Johne but have you heard of the expression
Don Juan in Spanish? It’s quite common (in the Spanish-speaking world) and the irony is it’s not a compliment at all.
If a man is called a
Don Juan that means he’s a lady’s man or womanizer. The expression originated from a legend.
It’s common in English as well. You hear people say
he’s a Don Juan.
