Viva International Plans for Fall Service to Venezuela
Tuesday May 24, 3:30 pm ET
ORLANDO, Fla--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2005--Viva International, Inc. announced earlier this afternoon that it plans to commence daily flight service from Punta Cana, Santiago, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to Caracas, Venezuela in the fall. Viva recently announced the commencement of scheduled service between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to begin in early June of 2005. Services will be provided through Viva subsidiaries Eastern Caribbean Air of Puerto Rico and Viva Air Dominicana, S.A. of the Dominican Republic.
Pier Bjorklund, a Viva consultant, commented as follows, "The announcement that plans are under way to commence daily service to Caracas is the Company way of saying that its plan for service within the Caribbean is progressing smoothly and appears to be easily expandable with the introduction of aviation equipment that we hope to soon be able to announce. Expanding our services to Caracas is recognizing the high demand that exists as well as bridging our route structure for the benefit of future passengers. Our demographic studies indicate that Caracas will be a very nice complement to our other operations. It takes a good 90 days of planning and preparation to establish and carry out a plan for adding locations. Management has been encouraged by equipment lessors and its investment banker to accelerate our expansion plans. Caracas will be our next planned location and we will subject other locations throughout South and Central America to determine our future plans."
