Made it to the Dolphins Water Park, Juan Dolio on Saturday 11, June 2016.
Taxi from Andres/Boca Chica R/T for eight people was 2500rdp. Special
pricing (?) through the month of June - under 12 is 550rdp, adults and
over 12 was 650rdp. The park was open Friday, Saturday, Sunday 11-8.
Purchase your tickets before you enter the main entry - the ticket window
is obscure but is on the left of the entry. You then go through the once-over
for no food and drink or weapons, attach an arm bracelet and walk through
the turnstile. Dressing room/toilets/showers are on the left/right. Lockers
for clothing and other items are in the dressing rooms but the day we went
I was told that no one knew where the keys were to any of them. When
available they rent for 190rdp. Let the kids loose; security at all the venues
that were open so I don't believe anyone could drown or be injured. Beer
was available in cans at 140rdp; they ran out of light after I had three.
Probably a good thing, saved me from dehydration as I started a water diet
at 80rdp. Cokes were 100rdp. Time for lunch; three pieces of chicken with
fries or plantains 300rdp per plate. I didn't participate in the water works
so I chased shade for the day. The grounds were in need of a severe manicure,
appeared the grass had not been cut in quite some time and mosquitos were
abundant. One of the water slides was out of commission and appeard to be
that way for quite some time as the water pool was green/stagnant water
which contributed to the mosquito problem! The wave pool was not open!
Nor was the dolphin show or the sea lion show. There was one sea lion in
a very small pool of very warm water - I don't believe in keeping wild animals
in captivity and made myself abundantly clear that they were abusing the lion.
One bar and one cafe open. The waterpark was evidently built on the premise
that "build it and they will come"...plastic lounge chairs available for perhaps
1500 or more folks - 200 folks at best when we were there. Kids gave it a 10,
I give it a 3 at most...Banzai'
