Thanks for all the replies, I will definately try all those places mentioned in the next few months but my girlfriend being a typical DR women wanted a typical dominican cake from the pastry place opposite playeros,good cake but I wanted to get her a better one,but she got what she wanted and shared it with everyone on the beach saturday afternoon.

I have to agree with the others who recommended K's Coffee Shop in Cabarete. Kathy makes all the cakes herself from scratch and I speak from personal experience when I say they are fantastic! And very well priced as well.

Is K's still there? I need a cake with buttercream frosting, not meringue. Does anyone have contact info for her (preferably email)?

Dominican cakes suck, and in general, Dominicans are lousy cooks, in my opinion..........always glad when I get back to the US and good food again.
