Hi, we are planning an individual trip to DR in march for 2 weeks. Cannot decide which airport: Puerto Plata ( isn?t it raining in march there very often ) or Punta Cana ( beaches seem to be great, but we are not the all-inclusive typ:cheeky: ). What about traveling by bus? Could we go from Puerto Plata to Samana ( also rainy??) and continue to Puerto Plata? Thanks for your help!!

There's just as much chance of not seeing one drop of rain, than to see a downpour.
I don't know who gave you the idea that it was rainy in this area in March, but they were wrong.
It is possible and inexpensive to travel by bus to the Samana peninsula, from the Puerto Plata area.
Punta Cana is for newly-weds and nearly-deads.
POP airport is in Sosua, and a better choice for you, than Puerto Plata itself.
If you're part of the young sporty windsurfing crowd, then Cabarete would be the place for you.
Downtown Sosua is 10 minutes from the POP airport, and Cabarete is another 10 minutes farther.
If neither suits you, then you can try out La Samana.
