i know it sounds crude but many houses have a big ball of bare copper wire hanging in a corner. is that the elevetor? i think i maybe i am confused between transformer and elevator.

Depending upon how that big ball of wire is wound it can either raise or lower the voltage.

Running the proper gauge wire and using a voltage regulator is a better option.

i definetly need to rethink my problem. burying won't work cause i would pass by many houses. soon as someone started to fix there driveway my line would probably be cut by mistake. my road is unfinished and is often graded by machine which would also destroy it. i have a diesel generator but that comes with it's own problems. my watchman is honest as the day is long but horrible with machines and such. generator is cheap to run but when im not there and it has a problem it can be costly. if it blowes a motor like the last on did l'll have no elec at all. need to weigh it all up and make up my mind. wish me luck.

Apart form all the electrical problems with have 1500 feet x 3 of #10 AWG out there for easy pickings, I just bought 600 ft. of 10 AWG, do not remember what is cost, will look it up tomorrow.

They gonna rob the wire, its not a matter of if, just when, even if you bury it, and it ain't deep enough, like 6-8 ft. down they gonna dig it up.

Think about solar,,,,,I am installing 9,000 watts, (1,620 Kwh per month) US$15K, pay back at todays rates 50 months and you so far from the road will have the additional for batteries for night time.

How about a propane powered generator?
cHEAPER TO RUN.
A propane fridge costs a lot to buy,but nothing to run,and will last forever,or at least till it rusts away,no motor/compressor!

i have had propane gen. not as cheap as diesel. and it blew motor after about 1 year. my 2cyl. diesel burnes 1 gal in 4 and half a half hours. takes 3 and half hrs to charge 4 batteries. charge lastes 24 hrs when im there living normaly and 5 days when watchman is alone. its cheap till there is a problen, than its not. street elec is the most uncomplicated and best for my watchman/farmer. somehow, someday i need to bring it to house

You're perfect for a big solar/wind system with a big battery bank backed by a generator when there isn't enough sun and wind. William Webster has such a system I believe. Might want to chat him up.

No solution will be cheap; you need to accept that first and foremost...

And 1500' from the street? you better HOPE your watchman is an honest man...with a gun.

OK, I checked real quick and I believe #10AWG THHN Stranded is going for $8.62RD a foot, so at 1500' X $8.62 pf X 2 Conductors (1 "Hot" - 1 "Neutral") = $25,860RD. #8THHN Stranded is going for $14.70RD per foot.

thhn #10 A.W.G. RD$11.58 per foot at American Last Week

1.500 ft. x 3 x 11.58 = RD$52,096.00 is your cost every time you have to put it back up.

Other option is a single high tension line, 7,600 VAC with a small step down transformer at your place.

High Tension lines will usually be aluminum with galvanized steel core, and with 7,600 volts coursing through is much more of any other type of deterrent until the power goes out.....

OKay, so you will have 7 rolls of wire and a transformer but what do you intend to do? What type of transformer do you have?

1500 ft run of 220 dropped down to 110 at transformer installed at house. using to connect to grid power. some say its do-able soome say its not. gonna gamble a little time and a little $ to find out. gone 4 years with diesel generator with inverter. its a cheap and relieable system but cant maintain a fridge without running gen alot more than i do now.in dr the more power options the better.maybe wind or solar next. wish i could get power from burning empty beer bottles

Are you bringing 220 from the pole to the house (no neutral?)?

used 6 rolls. 1500ftx2. transformer de fabrica. voltage dropped from 220 to 212 over course of run. transformer keeps it to 110 at all times. power company put meter on house and 220 street lgt out front on my line before meter with my permission. paying for what i use in house. works great. also put phone pole out front bought and installed for 1000 pesos. whole job took day and a half. bought fridge new for 19000 pesos. paid 4000 for used transformer with install. 4000 to electrician to put up wire. 4100 to buy 1 roll of num 10 wire here to make my six rolls. no problem in airport except for carrying 100 lbs in 3 bags tore my arms apart. for once i completed a job with no problems at all. im happy.
