Take note that San Pedro is also home to the Estrellas Orientales, that is battling to be one of the two teams to play the finals in the 2024-2025 Dominican Winter Professional Baseball Championship.

President Luis Abinader was in San Pedro de Macoris on Saturday, 21 December 2024 for the official opening of the boardwalk with Tourism Minister David Collado. The project was carried out by the Committee for the Execution of Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (Ceiztur) at a cost of RD$290.5 million.
