Following his arrival from Puerto Rico as part of a regional tour that will also include Mexico, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares began his official visit on Monday, 27 April 2026 by meeting with Spanish business leaders. Albares will meet with his counterpart, Roberto Alvarez on Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

The diplomatic mission is conducted in reciprocity to the meeting held by both ministers in Madrid in May 2025, serving to follow up on the work commitments agreed upon on that occasion.

The Ministry of Foreign Relations explains that both foreign ministers will hold a high-level working meeting to review preparatory works for the Ibero-American Summit in Madrid, scheduled for 4 and 5 November 2026, under the theme “Ibero-America.
