News flash!
The DR authorities are debating a piece pending onto a borrador, which would mandate that ALL ARMED security services, be them private or public, will be integrated into the Policia Nacional 100%.
All existing ARMED SECURITY personnel will undergo the same vetting and training process as regular police cadets at the state agency's facilities. Their employers will be required to pay them a salary equal to that of a Police Officer in service, cover their meals, sick days and also the primary equipment at a discount rate to be furnished ONLY from the POLICE's own system.
That's to say that the Police force will be more than double or triple in size and therefore security will be of much better quality all around they today serve.
All officers hired to provide security services, will be equipped with a radio to keep in contact with local units in case they need to report an issue or back up. Any criminal action against these officers will be equally prosecuted as assaulting a Law enforcement officer by the DA.
Killing a security agent during a criminal act will automatically call for the maximum incarceration penalty as regular when killing cops in service.
No more shotguns on the hands, but handguns to which the personnel will be properly trained and continuously drilled for as long as they serve in the unit.
As of the date that borrador is elevated to Law and enacted, there will be no more private or security services of any type other than these same officers. According to the draft, existing service providers with a personnel above a certain limit, will be able to operate as employment agents for the hire of the services.
These agencies (formerly then security firms) will then be in charge of all the logistics behind the agent's placement, schedules and transportation.
Under this borrador to be Bill, officers now serving under the Policia Nacional will be able to enjoy the same benefits as the former security agents on having work when off the regular beat. As standard practice, from then on, only the PN will be able to hire new personnel into the ranks and to expand the security detail around the country.
Pretty much you can rent-A-cop when you need security of the best level in the DR soon!
Officers that are added from the security firms on the first wave, will NOT be able to police the streets as the regular force agents. Only the new hires directly under the PN will be able to carry those two tasks accordingly.
