Just noticed this morning that a warehouse on Autopista Duarte that has been under some serious remodeling lately now sports a big new sign "IKEA". It is located on the south side of the Autopista, going in the direction from Santiago to the capital, past HOMS and before the Grupo Rica at the carretera Las Palomas. It is very easy to see with the big sign. I have no idea if it is a just a warehouse or sales center or ? but will try to post a photo if I have time tomorrow.

most likely they will have a small showroom, but if you need anything that they dont have in stock they will bring...just another good reason not to go to the capitol

I would think that you are correct Jorge. Ditto on the capital, not one of my favorite trips.

Here are some fotos that I took this morning:

If I remember correctly, there's a 4000 peso minimum on this. Not hard to satisfy in most cases but I was looking at an item just under that amount at the store in Bavaro and they said they couldn't bring it, even though I bought other various smaller items on that visit. My travels took me past the main store in SD so it worked out but it seems that a better policy would be to have a set day(s) of the week for receiving all requested items from the mother store, without setting a minimum per item.

There's a large IKEA kiosk in Plaza Internacional...1st floor in front of the Nautica Store. They have a sampling of items and catalogs...I assume you can order there and they will deliver it to you, presumably now from this satellite warehouse.

When I was there in June, they told me no minimum to deliver to the local order site for pick-up.

any company that charges for bags I WILL DO MY BEST. NOT TO SUPPORT ! and the quality of a lot of their furniture in this climate is the same result as the history of Floridas experience with much of it sawdust in very short order However there decorative goods and other good are quite Dececent .

IKEA strategy for the DR:

To use satellite stores to create sales volume and the main SD store as the main distribution warehouse.

Once critical volume balances with critical value, the next step is to open a new full sized IKEA store in that regional location.

Before critical volume and critical value is reached, you may see more than one delivery point in one area of denser population like Santiago.

This is the same strategy being employed by Office Depot for the DR market. But unlike IKEA, Office Depot will only seek to expand coverage and not the footprint of their single stores.

And... That's a DR only thing for public health facilities in the developed and developing world? May I ask?

Do you're a cat's person, I'm a dog's one?

Hate cats in general. Like dogs in general. Don't care for IKEA in general and still don't see why you would put a Punta Cana IKEA notice in a thread about Santiago. You could get more brownie points with that information in its own separate Punta Canad IKEA thread.
