they just write any word they can put together on the birth certificate. kinda like African Americans, to a point. it is an echelon thing. you will not find a Brugal naming their kid Belkydulis.

I know someone that is call ONEWAY.

I know a lot of people called ONEWAY (as in "there are a lot of streets named after him... ONE WAY")

If ONEWAY is on that person's birth certificate that would be a first.

Then again Dominicans and nicknames... there's a topic.

Yeyson, Yefery, Yimi...their parents knew that some day their newborns would be playing beisbol in the US of A and wanted to give them a head start. Just how clever is Wily Mo Pena?

The DR population has more than tripled over the last 50 years to 10 million. Think of how creative they'll have to get in the next 50 years to come up with 20 million new names.

Following on from that, I once met a girl called Macbeth.

In the category of names that don't travel too well - Scarys and Gaudy (F) and Jerpis (M).

Nothing creative about making up a name and never knowing how to spell it in the future. And Im speaking about the parents. I have 2 step kids with weird sounding names and the mother never spells it like it is on the birth certificate.
