i will be very blunt, the first person who mentions again in this thread brothers/AAs running/ruining sosua will get an infraction. and then another one, if you keep on insisting. there is an thread about this in OT for your enjoyment, take it there.

sosua threads too often turn into personal attacks and bickering. it ain't gonna happen here, he're having a nice conversation.

I'm going to save you the trouble . . .

The LAW was even linked in this very thread in Post #294 by "ju10prd".

And here it is again:

http://www.senado.gob.do/senado/por...s Publicas/PROYDELEYEXPBEBIDASALCOHoLICAS.pdf

Here are the specific Chapters and Articles of the law that specifically state that yes, there IS SUCH A THING as a license to sell alcoholic beverages.

And here is the definition, within the very same law, as to what constitutes a "Centro de Expendio" de bebidas alcoh?licas:

CAPITULO I

DISPOSICIONES GENERALES

Art?culo 2.- Para la aplicaci?n e interpretaci?n de esta Ley, se consignan las siguientes definiciones:

2.2. Centro de expendio o suministro gratuito de bebidas alcoh?licas: Lugar donde se venden, expenden o suministran gratuitamente bebidas alcoh?licas en envases abiertos o cerrados, tales como, de manera enunciativa, y en modo alguno limitativa: colmados, colmadones, discotecas, supermercados, restaurantes, tiendas de licores (liquor store), car wash, tiendas de conveniencia (food shops), entre otros;

On Friday evening the attorney representing Rumba informed me that the order for "CLAUSURADO" by the "Secretar?a de Estado de Turismo" of the "Minesterio P?blico" referred to the specific violation of the law prohibiting the selling of alcoholic beverages without a license. Yes, the very one YOU claim doesn't exist.

On Monday morning I will be in their office, if I can obtain a copy of the actual order I'll post it in this thread.
.

Show me one. They don't exist. I never had one in either of my bars nor does anybody else I know. You can post all the laws you want, show me proof. Or better off, buy a bar or business and then you can actual post of factual events. Go speak to bar owners and report back on these license you speak of. There are licenses, and those specific to alcohol have never been enforced and never ever asked for from the ministry of tourism that I can assure you.

Ya I'm sure the attorney called you right away to inform you. Do you actually believe yourself???? Again, do you think that Bobby would be that stupid not to have a liquor license? of course not.

TOTALLY FALSE, "Tourist areas" are not excluded from ANYTHING and their is ABSOLUTELY NO LAW stating that they are allowed to serve alcohol until 3:30am..

The authorities did NOTHING illegal in the closing of the four mentioned businesses on Pedro Clisante, there is nothing to challenge in court.

You need to educate yourself. Tourist areas have special hours. Please look it up, educate yourself and stop pretending you are somebody you are not. You're information has no value here.

Yet another reason not to do a start up in Sosua is the shake downs by the cops. Do they still take away the shine kids boxes until they get a propina? I recall the original owners of Jolly Rodgers had their sandwich sign taken from them until they made some payout. At every turn, foreign business owners are treated like they are making money hand over fist.

But that's not what it is about....it's about money.

Being about money and trying to reduce the bad image of the DR and Sosua in specific are not mutually exclusive. Sometimes when someone says they are doing something for a reason, they are actually doing it for that reason.

when you close the businesses in Sosua, because of the chicas, they will just move to another place in the DR. Wasted effort................DOC

As long as they move to an area that does not get bad publicity for the DR, it will have the effect desired by the government. Cleaning up Sosua is the goal. The girls going somewhere else is what is wanted.

When has that been the case in the DR? :)

Yes maybe they will move out of Sosua, and for a while (maybe a year) business will be down but after a while maybe roving gangs of sweaty middle age men in white tank tops or an NBA jersey and basketball shorts with a towel thrown over their shoulders and smoking fat cigars pretending to be "gangster ballers" while staying in $45 a night flop houses and eating two orders of barbecue chicken for lunch & dinner will disappear too.
It isn't the chicas that destroyed the vibe of Sosua - it's the mongers from NY and Florida who move around in packs because they only feel like virile men when they can swap stories 'bout hittin' dat ass' with other middle age losers.
Maybe if the ugly low quality girls who cater to the these mongers are moved out and the classier hookers (is that a real thing) return to be with more sophisticated travelers (not so cheap), Sosua won't seem like a Detroit beach ghetto after word leaks out.

Is there a way to get from Playero to beautiful underrated Sosua Playa de Salida without experiencing the above ambience? If so pls advise.

Because something has not happened before means it cannot be different this time? The news has stated that the Attorney General and the Minister of Tourism are working with the Police to change Sosua. Maybe that means absolutely nothing will happen.

I heard a rumor that the some locations at Sosua were told to close even earlier than midnight. Anyone else verify that?

What was it like before.

It is a shame, as some of these girls do use their money to raise kids. Yeah it's not an honorable way to do it but with close to zero a chance to get a real job many turn to the easy money.
If they just didn't move in gangs (men and women) then it would not look so sordid.
I have only been in and out of Sosua for 12 years.
I know it has gotten dirtier and more aggressive and lot's fewer European travelers seem to come and certainly families and family groups seem few and far between. I'd like to hear from real old timers who can relate what is was like 20 years ago.

They may as well just shut down nightlife in that case. Why don't they get serious?

They are getting serious. It is about shutting down the whore monger night life. What ever else falls by the way side is not important.
