Good post but have you ever been to CMC....if this is one of the better medical facilities, God help us.

Yes.
Very clean efficient and capable is all I can say.For a small provincial town in a developing country, actually quite exceptional.I don't know what happened to you.Not good I guess or are you just another 'let's bash it anyway' crowd?

Been there multiple times, so have some friends. I have one good story, the rest are not so good. I will not get into it but some stories are not great.

Edit, most issues are to do with cost/payment/organizational but 2 are very personal.

I had a brief stay in there, wasn't for anything major, and sure they have nice rooms, better than a lot of hotels on the island, but I can say, they are definitely out for money. And for god sakes, don't eat the food in there...

Dittos.

I got stitched up there early one morning by the Doc himself. Did a beautiful job - No scar. I can continue my lucrative career as a foot model. And it only costs $20 usd. Maybe the gal at checkout forgot a zero, don't know.

One of the better medical facilities on the North Coast - CMC Medical Center. Also within walking distance from many of Sos?a's neighborhoods.

Good post but have you ever been to CMC....if this is one of the better medical facilities, God help us.

I have been attended to in CMC twice, once for a kidney stone and on another occasion for something minor. I have also visited, either as a patient or bringing someone for "medical treatment", so called "private clinics" and public hospitals in Nagua, Cabrera, Rio San Juan, Gasper Hernandez, Sabaneta, Cabarete, Los Charamicos, Maranatha, La Uni?n, Montellano, Puerto Plata, Maimon, Imber and some others I can't currently recall. What I have seen and experienced in these clinics and hospitals over the years can only be described as surreal. So when I state that CMC is "one of the better medical facilities on the North Coast", I speak from first hand experience. In comparison to 99% of the available facilities on the north coast it is exemplary.

The food sucks in First world hospitals. You are not there to eat.

It was a statement re: CMC's food, I've actually had decent food in a hospital before. So do tell, what food were you given at CMC when you were in there???

Never been. I made a statement that hospital food sucks. I am sure many would agree. Chill out. It's just MY opinion. I am happy you were served decent food in a Hospital before.

Yes. compared to the public system. Compared to what high end tourists are used to back home....that is what I am questioning.

It appears many have had good luck, I have not. All I am saying.

How about a success story?

La Taberna El Conde, right opposite helados Bon.

Nick, the recent new owner from Northern Ireland has transformed this place from a mediocre restaurant to a roaring success during this past low season.

It's hard to pinpoint the exact feature attributing to it's success, but a combination of great food, low prices, pub-like atmosphere and cute waitresses is certainly helping to put this place on the map.
