So I went to the Chinese restaurant to try their sit down menu. I sat outside and it took 10 minutes to actually get a menu even though three employees saw me sitting there. I ended up going inside to get the menu myself. The menu looked reasonably OK, but most dishes were between 450-500 pesos, which is up there for a Chinese restaurant such as this one, believe me, it is no gourmet Chinese restaurant like you would see in Santo Domingo at very similar prices. So I asked the waitress what was included in the price? Her answer was "just the meat"...I asked her again, just to be sure, and she gave me the same answer. So, understanding that she was probably new, I suggested that she go and ask someone what was included and her answer was "if you want some rice or noodles from the buffet we can give you some"!!! So one is expected to pay between 450-500 pesos for a meat dish and then be 'offered' some rice and noodles from the buffet!! Not quite the answer I was expecting and so I said noodles and that I wanted with the dish to be cooked fresh just like the meat dish. She answered "ok"...I also ordered a spring roll for a starter, (for take out they charge 35 pesos and for sit down they charge 50 pesos). One came out on a small orange plastic plate straight from the buffet section, I tried to cut it with a fork (using just a fork with a fresh spring roll should always be suffice providing they are crispy)...could not cut it, so had to use the knife which meant that this spring roll was prepared hours ago...put a piece in my mouth, stone cold! I called the waitress over, told her it was cold and could not eat it and she said they are all like that. I got up and said cancel my order and left...she said what about the spring roll, you have to pay for that...I said tell you boss to stop selling cold food and walked away. I was half expecting to be chased to PC my a mad Chinese man!!! I hope that the waitress did not get into trouble and if she was charged for that I would gladly give her the money for it....but I refuse to be expected to pay for cold food. Looks like I will stick to the Cabarete Chinese.
