Come on, calling it a scam to make money, and she has been bitten up by her husband and now she is lying for profit is not blaming the victim !?, next they say she has done it to herself.... (some people just don't want to accept they are some psychopaths out there !)
The funny thing is people just recycling each others ideas without even one minute thinking, wolf pack attitude, all it takes is one of the gang come up with a post and off they go....
How on earth people come up with these hypothesis is all to do with watching too much TV, you guys already made at least two seasons series out of this, contact a studio quickly... !
I wish people would just say well, we are not sure but it could be this and that, but no, so much certainty like they have a crystal ball and "know it all" - and look at where in the world these "know it all" have ended up in their lives, poxy DR ! (no offense, I am here a lot too, but ...)
The woman was brutally attacked, you guys have zip all evidence, few details. Just sit on the fence until they solve the case properly...(well, I hope they do).
Sure it could be a lot of people, employee, non-employee local, or even another guest at the hotel (local or foreigner). Husband with two other friends go to the reception 3 times that night to look for her, he would be in some shape beating her up like that just minutes before, and nobody noticed... !? Not rule it out of course, sure sounds a strange crime they still have not resolved yet (even for DR), but why speculate so much, wait and see....

is it within your capabilities to discuss anything without contaminating the discourse with your political musings? it is precisely because of people like you that there are dedicated political spaces on DR1, which allow for the rest of the readership to conduct their attentions without having to discard the political chaff. there are people from both sides of the American divide who see things in a completely different way than would be expected. it is stressful, i know, but give it the old school try...make an attempt to rely on logic and reasoning, sometimes, and dispense with the political accusations.

i agree with you about sitting still and waiting until the evidence is in, but that is not how human nature works. a thread like this gets started, and polar opposite reactions will eventuate. they are generally an amalgam of sympathy, and skepticism, on both sides of the ledger. there will always be the guys who side with the victim, and those who cry BS. if that was not the case, the threads would have just the topic, and no responses.

The reality, however, is that only those that have actually experienced going to the Fiscalia-Ministerio Publico as a victim of a crime can really explain the grand inequities that are going on there. The experience of this lady does not surprise me whatsoever since I just experienced the same. Victims are victimized by a mostly corrupted and illegitimate process...They will pay both financially and mentally...so long as the other side can pay more to the supposed entity that 'investigates' crime. Disgusting process that leaves most victims with the only recourse that has taken place here with this lady going to the media-I applaud what she has done as I know there is no other way for her. One wakes up months down the road after the shock period ends and wants retribution since justice is impeded...just how things work in the real world.

I have that experience.
Twice.
One was a burglary, and one a home invasion while we were sleeping.
I know others who have been victims of crime, some violent, who also had their cases taken seriously.
And while it was not like calling the cops in the states, the resolution was proper, the perps caught and justice delivered.
I am sorry your situation has jaded you so much.

Seems many have given her the "benefit of the doubt"...until her story set off some "that is congruent" sensors.
At the same time, many here have trashed the police activity in this case without any reason for doing so, because those people, no one actually, knows what the police did.
Most police investigative work is kept hidden because they don't want perps to take note. But then again, that is also common sense.
"Wanting to believe" and "waiting for the facts" are not the same, although they can exist with each other. I want her story to be true, a true innocent victim of a violent assault from an unknown perp who is still on the loose, but I also think some of her story, which many posters here have outlined in this thread, set off some "doesn't make sense" sensors.
Certainly, violence like what this poor woman went through, regardless of who did it, evokes strong emotions: rage in some, a sense of failed protection in others...and (incredibly) politics is a small few.
But to say "if you don't buy the victim's story 100% as stated, you are blaming the victim" is antithetical to common sense and logic.
My money is on the cops finding the perp.

I don't see anything about a camera in there. Phones are cameras. She mentioned she wanted to try to take pictures of the moon from the beach.
