"who was the genius who took the trees out of Sosua beach?."

There were 3. The first was Irma, the second was Maria and the third was the major March storm. There are a number of videos showing the damage and the uprooted trees.

That's not what's hindering development on the Sosua end. You can design a building to fit on anything. Even Cab, they get pretty creative on the beach side of Rt 5 when they want to.

The real problem in Cab is the 1 meter wide sidewalks, 3 lane road and 5 lanes of cars.

They really need the bypass road in Cab.
Not talking about a building. The master plan of Sosua/Cab (LOL) and the nature of the geography make it impossible to duplicate another Punta Cana. Not that anyone wants that to happen anyway.

Find me locations for 40,000 rooms and road infrastructure to handle the traffic. Developers don't want to piecemeal together 100's of lots and raze structures to develop.

It's never happening. These cities will just burp along like they have been doing for decades.

How is the steak there at Casa Valeria ? i heard it was really good, and it looked good when they had tables out on the street a while back , not sure they still do that ... The Renovated spaces and Rooms look REALLY NICE ..
..although Terra Linda has really good food as well.. Pizza is off the Hook..
tell us a little more about Casa Valeria if you get the chance .

yes ...the hotel is very good, only about 20 some rooms...had a complete redo 2 years ago, never had to ask the staff to do anything as they anticipate everything....the cook is from Germany and the food is excellent...stop in and have a drink a some food, I would recommend to anyone..and best of all not expensive..on a scale of 5 its about a 4.8...oooh and you can swim in the pool anytime and not bother anyone...…...Doc...….

Whoever said the plan was to duplicate punta cana? Besides yourself. There is no Master plan.

Dominicans don't want hooker parades on Main Street. In conjunction with that, some new developments will break ground on the NC. And some infrastructure will get hastily improved to accommodate the new projects. It's really that simple.

But I get it, people don't like change. It makes them nervous. And you can get up tomorrow morning and say "See, I was right. Nothings changed." This is always a humorous topic.

Three lane road - where's that? Most of the time there's not even two with big delivery trucks, cars parked on the south side of the street, and cars parked on the north side that don't pull all the way into a parking space or are parked at an angle.

Sporadic traffic and parking control by the police. Last week I was going into Cabarete and when the car in front of me got to the liquor store there were no parking spaces, so he just stopped right there in the middle of the street, locked his car, and went into the liquor store. Huge traffic jam. Not the first time I've seen something like that happen.

I don't mind change. I am sceptical as I have been hearing the same thing for over 16 years. If change comes, more power to them. I have trouble believing something that has been talk about for so damn long with so little results.

Maybe it is a 50 year plan...lets see.

I agree with you, I am also open to change. I'm open to a whole new Sosua, with real sidewalks, real stores and the west end of pedro clisante being closed to traffic. For years I've sat in countless meetings with these dreamers talking their ****. Discussing grand ideas with no path to get there. As the saying goes "too many chiefs and not enough Indians". I wish them well and support the change.

I don't mean any disrespect but when you say that Dominicans don't wan't hooker parades on main street, how do you explain El Conde in SDQ, and Boca Chica? Both of those places literally have hooker parades and Boca Chica even closes down a section of a street to have it's hooker parade?

What percentage of tourist dollars drives the Sosua economy?

try close to 100%. There are no factories or manufacturing in Sosua proper, no mining. Agriculture and farming are outside of Sosua proper. They're probably some telecommuters but very few
p.s retirees are tourists

Def not 100%. If I had to take just a wild guess, I would say 60%. And no, I'm not going to try to list the other 40%.

No disrespect at all. We're just a bunch of yahoo's discussing things we can't control and have no influence over. I have no idea about hooker parades in SDQ or BC. I just know what I hear around the North Coast from business owners and families. You'd get a much different opinion if walking up and down pedro clisante.

I said close, there is literally no other industry in the town of Sosua that is not related to the tourist buck

families walking up and down Pedro C ? we call them lost or losers. Who would knowingly take their family on Pedro C exposing them to an adult entertainment zone.
