A thought just crossed my mind regarding the clean up of prostitution. That is, how would a clean-up of thousands of sites on the net on the subject of "one of the sex capital etc..." be done? .

There are companies that do exactly that, they clean up negative press online. Would the Dom gov't do that, who knows?
Between the ballers on youtube and the the news reports of recent deaths, it would be well worth it.

I don't think the new red light area will succeed. I could be wrong, but we'll see. The real pushback from Playa Chiquita residents hasn't really geared up yet.

What choice do you think those residents will have? How are they going to push back?

Not a lot of choices. But probably some yelling and screaming. Burning rubber if they really get worked up? Right now not too much noise, they're probably waiting to see if it actually transpires like everybody else. And it may not, so why get all worked up now?

But there are probably some Playa Chiquita residents that have complained about Pedro Clisante, and now if they start seeing their neighborhood change? Plus they have Pedro Clisante to look at and realize what their neighborhood could actually become - it's not like they don't have an example to look at. I would think there is potential for those homeowners to get mad.

I know a couple homeowners in that neighborhood, one does airbnb. They're not happy.

Any home owner that gets mad has the option to sell. That is about it for options. It's not like they are paying property taxes...

No, I'm saying that arresting girls at random as they leave Clasico's disco makes no sense. Arresting male tourists as they emerge makes just as much sense. Going to a disco is not an illegal activity for anyone.

I am sorry...miss read you..I see now.

Getting angry has some connection?
I can imagine your feelings being the opposite if the idea was to move into your neighborhood.
A nice single family home in the middle of a red light district should bring a pretty penny, eh
The nearby homes will be worthless.
Not being required to pay property taxes somehow makes it ok for the town to ruin your neighborhood and home value?
I am waiting for someone to organize the bar owners with the property owners and fight city hall.
If they wait too long it will be too late.
What sort of legal argument will Sosua be able to make in court?
Being offended will not fly.
It is legal behavior and the "save our paradise" argument is laughable.
It is not paradise and they are not saving it, just trying to move it and in a way that damages innocent people.
The politicians in Sosua were elected to represent all the people not just the self serving religious types.
Maybe they should move.
Any chance Illiana and the grab your pearls crowd lives anywhere near the west end of Pedro Clisante?

Wait, now a red light district is bad for property values? I'm so confused.

It's not going to work anyways. The timing of the moves will be chaotic and chicas/gringos will filter elsewhere. I thinks.

Who's Illiana?

The Red Light zone being directly across the road from the CESTUR station is a great economy move.No more need for the pickup trucks.
They can just frogmarch the girls over.

What is illegal about the town deciding to prevent bars from being in an area? It is not a question of a few bar owners banding together to fight city hall before it is too late. It was always too late. They have zero legal standing to stop what is happening.

As for the houses being worthless in the new red light district, that is true, and also nothing that can be done about it legally. This is not a country where it is easy to sue anyone at any time for anything. Very much unlike he US in that regard.

That's possible as we have seen regularly.
I'm not si sure this time though. The DNA seems to have been altered now and whether this is reversible remains to be seen.

The impact of social media cannot be underestimated as its results are more or less immediate and instantly change the fragile tourist demographic,
For sure the vids of Police illegally physically abusing people and the veiled threats of arresting tourists are already having a detrimental effect on people planning their holidays.Less so on the regular snowbird market.

Any reports, other than your opinion, to substantiate this declaration which you keep ingeminating?

I sometime think the Sosua authorities don't want to seriously and suddenly tackle this embarrassing and disgusting issue of gringo chasing chichas, because I think deep down they know the damage that could have on the community and the town, even many townships around the area. They are trying the slow approach. The same with central government and further up the command....

There are many measures that have been taken in other parts of the world, I have seen it myself, that can very quickly put an stop to all this, but they don't do it. For example they can stop hotels allowing un-registered guests into the premises, this is quite common and maybe part of hotel rules in a lot of countries.

Can stop bars and clubs (even restaurants) to let people to just come and sit there (specially girls). They must consume food or beverages, most girls can't afford to buy even water every hour, this is done in some other places I have seen - even here a while back I think. Having girls just sitting on the premises to attract clients is called "promoting prostitution" and banned in a lot of countries.

Finally they can ban soliciting in public places, this is a well known and enforced law in UK, you can't go curb-crawling or even walking down the street and pick up - same for both johns and girls. This is not even allowed in bars and restaurants because they are considered public places. Not sure but this may need a proper law about it passed in parliament, but maybe that can be done locally.

Then we will have such a ghost town only the missionaries dare to go out to promote their God... ! lol (by the way I saw a guy , copy of Jesus Christ lookalike with long blonde beard and white clothes !!!, sat down on the beach and in 5 minutes had like 5 o 6 chicas sat around him listening, preaching them about God, then walked off with two of them....! I think this is a new game in town, I am sure he will get a special discount of some sort, working for non-profit missionary org and all that... !? lol

And the level of poverty and crime go up so much you will not be safe in your house let alone venture out, and well, if not all but most businesses will close down - if you remember Boca Chica some years back after their crackdown you know what I am talking about.....

The rough treatment of the girls by the police comes directly from the city politicians.
At the "save our paradise" meeting the head Sosua cop made a speech.
The cops do not do anything here on their own.
They are told what to do and its why the girls get roughed up on a regular basis.
The moral evangelists are in church on Sunday but are ok with working girls being dragged by their hair into the trucks.
Hypocrites.

I have seen girls dragged by their hair and tossed into the back of the pick up truck for walking on the street.
How is that for ingeminating?
