Any knowledgeable insight into what is actually being dispensed from these large tanker trucks? My community received two passings evening last. Sounded like armoured carriers parading through.

It's interesting on Worldometers that they show the number of deaths per million. Rich countries like Luxembourg and UAE have very high numbers. The Dominican Republic is low, at 419 per million.

419 is the number of tests per million which is fairly low. Deaths per million is 9 which is fairly low also.

Not sure how true it is but a tiger was confirmed to have contracted the virus, and now they’re stating that felines are susceptible...

Tomorrow there will be a vote on extending the state of emergency in the DR. There is now more opposition to this extension. Tomorrow we will see what happens.

There is some thought that Vitamin D may protect against Corona. Darker skin means less Vitamin D, more vulnerability. Very speculative. Could lead to poorer outcomes in the DR. Dominicans also have high rates of other comorbidities.

8 more ferry flights approved to get stranded home

LAS AMÉRICAS AIRPORT .- The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) approved at least eight ferry flights through the Las Américas airport for the departure from the country this week of hundreds of passengers who are still stranded, after measures by the Dominican government to prevent the expansion of COVID-19.

The information was offered by the spokesperson for Dominican Airports Siglo XXI (Aerodom), Luis José López, who reported that there will be eight flight operations to New York and Puerto Rico.
López explained that the flights were approved by the Civil Aviation Board, to the JetBlue airlines, Delta Airlines, to arrive without passengers at the Las Americas International airport, where they will pick up the stranded travelers.

Passengers consulted thanked the facilities that the Dominican government is offering through the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), for their return to their country of origin.

He added that special flight operations are being carried out only by the Las Americas International Airport, José Francisco Peña Gómez.

I thought that was only true in non-tropical places due to the sun being weaker and the lifestyle during colder months. In addition, many Dominicans get lighter, in more than a few cases considerably lighter, from the color they had in the DR when they move to places like NY. Traveling back to the DR the person will be lighter than people remember them for a few days and then in a matter of days their color begins to get darker. These things are much more visible on men than on women.

Then their are many Dominican men who will have a considerable darker color in the parts exposed to the sun (arms, face, neck, upper torso close to the neck, etc) but the parts not often exposed to the elements will be considerably lighter in color. Another common occurrence among older very light or white Dominicans is for dark spots along the arms, hands, sometimes on the face, neck, sometimes on the lower legs. This is due to a lifetime of exposure to the sun.

Bottom line is that in addition that darker skin is more efficient in producing Vitamin D in tropical regions die to high sun rays, the evidence that many people are exposed to the sun (and consequently getting a natural source of Vitamin D) is staring at everyones face.

Usually darker people are told to take Vitamin D supplements in colder places like NY, Seattle, all of Canada, etc because most will have a deficiency due to darker skin requiring a stronger sun to produce adequate levels of Vitamin D. Lighter and white people in those conditions usually don't require a Vitamin D supplement because lighter skin is able to produce Vitamin D from a weaker sun. Not the case in the DR because the sun is strong everywhere. Actually, that's one of the reason that lighter and white people are at a greater risk of developing skin cancer in tropical regions vs darker people who are naturally able to take a stronger sun for much longer before their skin begins to act up.

the USA, at this time, does not manufacture vitamins. You might have purchased them through an agent in the USA but most are of Chinese origin...just sayin
