Un-pedictability
The lengths the DR1'ers will go to to help friends move to the DR is astounding
By the way - for those of you who followed my traveling with Ernesto post #35 on this thread, it turns out that if he had gone down the east coast to Jacksonville and really pushed it to make Miami in two days, he would now be arriving in Miami, with Ernesto 100 miles south headed straight for Miami. Fortunately, Ernesto is only a gale now blowing 45.
So, at the moment in Miami, it would be blowing 30-35 mph winds with lots of rain about to increase to 45 with higher gusts and even more rain as Ernesto approaches. However, the bulk of the wind and rain is to the east of the storm so it won't last long. So I'm not to worried about my friend.
At least he can hunker down in Miami and wait out the storm.
Amazing how un-predictable these "tormentas" are - they often have a mind of their own and just don't want to obey NOAA's computer models or the predictions. Two days ago the Ernesto was predicted to be on the way up the west coast approaching Tampa before turning to cross FL. I guess the CNN blondie was wrong and it veered outside the cone of predictability! :ermm:
I haven't heard what my friend decided to do - I'll let you know when I hear. He is supposed to be arriving here in the DR on Thursday - hope his plane flies
