I also would like up-dates on the renovated Jack Tar. We've been there many times and liked the size and location of this property.

damajagua waterfalls

28 Waterfalls:
This adventure takes you through the breath-taking rural landscapes of DR, we visit small Dominican village where you can try freshly brewed coffee and see for yourself how do average Dominicans live. Main attraction of the trip is Damajagua waterfalls where you have the opportunity to climb 7 of 28 cascades. This is truly amazing experience giving you an adrenaline rush! On a way back we take you for a horse-riding trip, where our guides will help even the beginners enjoy the ride through the botanical park. Tour includes safari, lunch, drinks and horseback riding.

here is a trip description. in reality is even more colourful and exciting. i did this trip barely weeks after learning how to swim and i have found myself having to jump down the cascades! really cool! :bunny: :bunny: :bunny:

do not fear the trip up the waterfalls, there are four guides, really fit and strong, pulling and pushing, always ready to help. no wonder they get tipped so much at the end of the trip! :cheeky:
with trips like that it is better to pay more and go with a big company as they insure you in case sth happens.
ooops, just realized it sounds a bit scary but it is such a big shot of adrenaline! but i saw older people, teenagers and of course me, with my minimal swimming skills and the fear of water doing this trip.

planner can confirm that, it is one of her favourite trips too!

btw the price is around 70 dollars per person, kids up to 11 years old 50% off. new tourism policy also applies extra charge of 8 dollars to climb up the waterfalls, it was introduced merely two weeks ago :tired:

if you are interested in more info pm me, always ready to help....

not recommended during heavy rains and young children no matter how good swimmers they are. I understand helmuts and life jackets are now worn and should be safer. There is a sucking whirlpool at the base of the second waterfall that will pull you under and keep you under. You are right, bigger tour companies are better and you should listen to the recommendations of Gregg. The small cheap companies are a risk. They only paid for my sons hospital costs, $130 I think, not for his casket.Glad to see there are no "reported" deaths or serious injuries in the last year and a half. Sorry to be so cynical, but any time someone recommends this excursion for young children, I step in.

when i said "older kids" i ment teenagers, should have made myself more clearly....
helmets and life jackets are compulsory.
did not see the whirlpool and i jumped myself! was pushed right back by my lifejacket...
the guides are there to make it as safe as possible and on my trip they did a good job.
cheetah, i had no idea that deaths or serious injuries have ever occured there!

Cheetah, my deepest sympathies, I only just learned of your story. I'm not a strong swimmer myself so i just would have gone over the water falls, maybe just played at the bottom a bit. YOU DEFINATELY HAVE AN INSIGHT THAT NONE OF US WOULD NEVER WANT TO HAVE, and i thank you for taking the time to respond.
