He came, he saw, he liked, he trying to figure out a way to stay is Sosua as long as possible, he raising money for the kids, he says the administration fee is 3%. Just another GoFundMe peddler.

Miko is just another monger, trying to live the dream like the rest of them, OK he feeds a few Charamicos kids, that is nice, walking the streets with Rick Ross and that chica twerking is certainly not a great look. I am waiting to see Illana embarrass herself on YouTube, is the video up yet?

If it's big money people what I don't understand in why Sosua? What's so special about Sosua and why such the fight? If it was for say Bahia de las Aguilas I'd uderstand, but Sosua? It's not like DR is short on the coastline, whoever the big money people are they can move 20 miles up or down the coast and recreate the whole Sosua "infrastructure" for a few million dollars.

I don't disagree. What do you think "Dream City" is and the intent there? Just on the western edge of Sosua.

Playa Congrejo, further west on the way to Puerto Plata and near where the Verde hooker area was closed could be developed and look a lot like Cabarete, but with some planning. You never know if that will happen, but that location could certainly be done up nice and pretty.

But we are talking about the redevelopment of Sosua and some people like redevelopment. For a few million dollars, things can also be redeveloped.

Dream City concept..could be the Las Vegas of the DR...……….

Bahia des aguilas will one day be high rise for sure but at the moment it's a national park'

Sosua has the infrastructure in place, albeit a bit ramshackle in some places, and a more or less weather protected bay, unlike further along the coast.

MontiCristi has very little to offer but Luperon could be made wonderful. Can't figure out why it's not.

Punta Rucia is developing fast but roads and infrastructure are not keeping up.

Gaspar Hernandez and Cabrera have their own issues so Sosua would be the perfect place to start.
Power is mostly good and set to improve.Water is here as well as established drainage systems (need fixing for sure but exist.)
An evidently 'flexible' and hungry local administration helps a lot.

So when we get the 5 star Hospital and the express high way, coming soon, plus ten international flights per day it's gonna be boom town.

PS.Anybody wanna buy my nice condo before it's worth millions? Good opportunity..

I copied this.......

Two years ago a group of real estate development firms sent representatives down to tour the North Coast. They flew into POP on two private aircraft and toured Puerto Plata, Sosua and Cabarete with the head of the Dominican Tourism and several high ranking officials from Santo Domingo. Their purpose here was explore development opportunities on the North Coast. Why would they be interested? International airport and the availability of prime oceanfront real estate.

A deal was struck. Over 650 million dollars of investment money will flow into the North Coast over the next five years. A portion of that investment went public over a year, google Marriott Sosua. (Interestingly right around the same time Sosua's mayor announced the zoning changes to Pedro Clisante.) Next on deck is Hilton group. They have been working on the acquisition of a prominent property overlooking Sosua Bay, one of the worst kept secrets here. Another group has a licensing deal with Hard Rock and they are closing the deal on a nice little chunk of beach in Puerto Plata- FYI that's ALL fresh and crisp American money. Why are the Americans jumping into Dominican real estate, which has largely been dominated by European and Russian dollars? Google US ambassador to the Dominican Republic..... Is all of this starting to come together and make sense?

Shuttering the strip and the selected establishments in Puerto Plata and Cabarete has nothing to do with deterring a certain segment of tourist. This is the Dominican government fulfilling its part of the agreement. You can't have blatant prostitution in the same neighborhoods as brand new 150 million dollar hotels. Anyone with some acumen can understand that. The argument that Sosua will never be a "tourist destination" is short sighted and severely underestimates the growth potential of oceanfront destinations, especially those in a tropical climate with infrastructure already in place - airport, roads, medical facilities.. etc

This is the direction the world is going. Sosua had its moment of debauchery in time, that time has come to an end. What you are witnessing is the decision to develop the North Coast and that decision came from Santo Domingo not the Sosua mayors office.

Last point. All of the youtube videos you guys are filming and clicking on are doing nothing but driving more negative attention. The entertainment district including the Ahnvee will be gone if you keep publishing content about them.

spanky, where did you copy that from? It certainly illuminates what I have learned from private conversations with people here and supports what they said.

Agreed. That explanation makes far more sense than the "we're tired of dealing with the homies from NY" argument.

The main conversation I had about this and the plans for the north coast was with the person hired to refurb the AI resort with the Casino near Perla Marina. The backers of that renovation pulled out because of cost overruns, but the information on those people who visited the DR with the intent of building (Marriott, Hilton and more) and put pressure on the government as described by spanky's post is spot on.

It is unlikely, but possible , that Chinese money is also involved on some projects.

Anyone thinking things will "go back to before" is certainly not seeing reality here.

It's a combination, if you were investing $.5B would you want YouTube videos of Maria twerking for Tyrone on the beach in the first Google search that pops up. The sleepy little hamlet of Sosua had its day in the spotlight.

Well, I'd feel the same if Maria was twerking for Wilhelm, Benedict or Yukon Joe, which was the case many years ago.

The simple fact is it is hard to sell the NC as the "new family spot" if Maria is twerking for anyone. Sosua, done right, is a fantastically beautiful location, and real money talks, loudly.

We'll see if they can get entrenched before there's any meaningful downturn, and the financing dries up.

it was NEVER about the " Homies from NY" argument ,, except in your mind ..

it was always about ANY Dudes who feel the need to make fools of themselves on the streets, on the Beach, and on YOU TUBE..

Cuba Dave was the most PERFECT description of that type of Attention seeker, and he is not a homie from NY ..
He was sent packing , Told NEVER to come back , and then proceeded to go to Costa Rico and get himself Put in PRISON for doing the exact same thing .

but it seems " some people " did not learn a thing from it.

and Coming up #1 in a GOOGLE SEARCH is EXACTLY their GOAL.

it is the Polar OPPOSITE of Discretion .

Youre preaching to the choir. As long as Youtube monetizes "travel" videos these guys will continue to push out two a day. This is how they are able to live there. They dont care theyre killing the town. They just need that tiny check to be able to stay. Expect plenty of Ahnvee vids to come. Thank god I live in the capitol; they all say its too difficult to meet women here as Sosua is point and click. I never want to go to Sosua and i pray the youtube video crew never wants to come down here.

If those vids come out of Ahnvee, don't expect Ahnvee to be around much longer.

that property is a complete tear down, trees and shrubs are growing out the windows and on the roof.
An Asian gentleman attempted to buy and restart the casino in Cararete a few years ago, once he saw the local occupancy numbers he bailed. I truly cant wait for the Marriott property in Sosua, I hope it is as nice as that super lux Ahnvee place. Did someone say "Infrastructure" and Sosua in the same sentence, part of the Sosua ambiance is the smell of sewage after a heavy rain, I am sure that will be ironed out, those Marriott guests don't mind not flushing or putting toilette tissue in a waste basket.
