just startig this weekend 4 pax been taken out of Cabeza de Toro/Punta Cana,
tested positive and their one bedroom hut not seen as appropriate to safely do home quarantine.
3 adults and one adolescent.
I dont know what exactly the "appropriate" circumstances are.

Probably separate room for infected and not infected people including separate bathroom etc. In other words a normal middle class family house/apartment or better.

I wonder if they are winging it or they have a standards check list

when locked away, even on the room of a 5 star resort,
no visitors allowed, not to see your wife or children or whom ever,
then no place could be really nice.
and be assured, when taken away here(or elsewhere) to quarantine,
to have a pool to swim in will be the least of your troubles quiet quickly.

Of course there is no place like home...........but given your choice of returning home and being in a 7 day quarantine on the island..........or stuck and locked down in COVID-19 ridden upper Manhattan..........the choice was easy. The non use of the pool was intended as a joke.......but all in all, Club de Aduana in Santo Domingo Este is not a bad place.............if you have to be quarantined.

agreed, thats of course a easy decision to make.
better locked up in any quarantine here on the Isle than roaming around freely over there, lol.

Last month some arrivals who were taken to military/police accommodation in Boca Chica raised hell because of the filthy conditions. https://www.diariolibre.com/actuali...-para-los-confinados-en-boca-chica-DA18095305
hahaha, bueno.
hwy the fock people always claim to awaitin a different country to receive all stuff by the standards they are used to in an other country?
let them pay 5 bucks per bottle of water.

Since I don't speak Spanish I had to rely on what a friend told me. She did not tell me that. Did he happen to mention when that might happen
Is there something pressing? I wouldn't bet on inbound tourist flights to DR. First they will open tourism internally. They're really not in a rush for the buffet mongers or keto kiters. You can also bet that the results of the election, and confirmation of those results will have a major impact on this.

I think it is the mass tourism they want back. The volume tourism. I suspect they are concerned about having a major outbreak and then considered not a safe destination. So maybe that is what they are working on. They will not jeopardize that with some individuals wanting to travel already making it look then as if they are not doing their best to contain the spread. I think there is a lot of image involved to and competition with other markets especially now. I think they will not open borders for visitors before they can open all of Punta Cana. I may be wrong. Just speculating.

here I personally totally disagree.
thats what each has his/her country for, to assist in exceptional cases, to take care about it's citizens under non foreseable circumstances.
US flights brought into the DR tourist passengers even 1 !!! day before the since days announced/known closure of the borders.
when a country allows his people to go "there", then it also has to offer a plan to go back "home".
never leave a citizen behind, thats what the priority under such situations should be, and for most countries anyways is.
the costs of such ferry flights, doesnt matter how few citizens are brought home per flight,
are a complete unimportant value to any country's yearly/monthly/daily stupid unimportant stuff expensions.
if you say that ferry flights should not be run by the different countries on their tax payers expense,
then you can say that at the moment you leave your home country(doesnt matter where you are from),
from that monet you are always on your onw and have no rights to anything by your home country.

I should point out, that few, if any of these repatriation flights are free. If i decided to return my family (4) to Canada, the cost would be $3,200cdn. My Swiss friend had a chance to return to his country...only 850 euros. He decided to stay here. As for Europeans complaining, for almost 2 weeks in mid April, there were a couple of Condor and Lufthansa flights landing daily in PUJ, along with less frequent Air France, British Airways, Finnair, Thomas Cook Scandinavia, Edelweiss and Air Europa flights to repatriate Europeans. Even LATAM out of Chile was flying repatriation flights to Europe.

they plan on early openings on several routes, but not including the DR route, which def is closed at June 1st.
til now i did not read that Jamaica or Mexico will have their borders open by June 1st, but didnt search for that the last days, neither, so i could have missed that.
and as for Cuba, well,
the way Trump treats Cuba the last weeks, i can imagine that requirements for americans visiting Cuba may change compared to the last couple years.
maybe their President even prohibits travels to the neighbour Island again.
