I go to Cabarete for only 3 things, an occasional nice meal and plumbing fittings or ferreteria shopping
Every time I am there I am ready to leave.
Parking is horrible, the main street so congested at times it is impassible and there are a cadre of moto-boys who like to drink from mid-morning (and don't hide it) and ride around on drunk on their Chinese motos like they are the next GP racer.

Cabarete may be great for wind surfing but the town doesn't seem to have any soul, class , panache or a real-person vibe.
Yes others love it, but I really can't understand why.
Thanks, Karen.

Yep.
That last batch of posts told me such a lot about the future of Sosua that I can throw away my crystal ball..
Very helpful guys....
It is my sincere hope that the future of Sosua is with the locals. That the filth that has teamed up to pillage that town over the past 2 decades cease and desist. That the municipal officials grow spines and contribute to growth and development towards a clean, new, refreshing tourist environment. That the perversion, drugs and prostitution retreat to the barrios from which they came. We know the puntos And the whores will go on. Let's keep it under the radar like most of the country. Maybe families will be able to eat on Clisante without being pimped for fake Viagra. Maybe a shred of decency. Maybe some Dominican pride. Maybe the element can retreat to Boca Chica.

That said, next would be the wildood nj, seaside NJ tired strip of Cab and the lambón surfs up bruhs that don't contribute to the local economy other than padding the accounts of sankys and dime bad dealers. Maybe they find a way to collect the garbage. Maybe they clean up the disgusting eyesore of callejon, the dice games where the players shout out the worst Dominican curse words imagined. Maybe put rents in line instead of ripping off folks that have no idea that you don't pay 650 dollars to live on a drug, pap and herpes infected street.

or maybe I wake up in Zurich with 2 million bucks in my hand. Oh well.

Once beautiful Cities , all over the world, ( look at examples in the USA of recent ) are very quickly turning into ISHT Holes , with Violence, Mayhem, Anarchy, Homelessness, Unemployment , rampant Crime , just the worst things imaginable are happening. .. all at the same time .
and we are seeing that it does not take much to set it off.

And yet here some of you guys are thinking Sosua , of all places , will be magically reborn , to be better than ever before ..
whee Families stroll in peace .. having the Vacation of their Life...

Wow, those sure are some amazing Dreams ..

I think 2 million is not enough in Zuerich anymore to come in and live a luxurious life there. Maybe 25 years ago.

Poor Sosua. Gets a lot of bad rap on dr1. It has a competitor en Boca Chica. I don’t think these places will change much now.

Lots of people with lots of money invested in something that should never have been invested in. Now they are trying to recoup. When one is desperate, dreams are all one has.
