I wasn't there but heard that the Army turned up at ahnvee last night. The Mayor was there for a while too. Quite the workaround is being employed to get people out of there and back home during the curfew hours.

Not seeing anything about this in the local news.

Unless they are staying as guests of the hotel it should be easy to catch those violating curfew. If the hotel disco/bar is operating beyond curfew then the operation should be shut down, not because it will make anyone safer but because no one should get special dispensation - if indeed the new honesty of Abanider means a darn thing.

I came in today through STI. There was a guy standing right before the immigration line, mumbled me something. I said " what" in English. He immediately pointed me towards the entry of the immigration line. There were a whole bunch of others that were redirected towards another line...did not have the energy to inquire why. I had to file my health status but no one asked for my Covid testing report (which too I had, done earlier in the week). I got out of the terminal in about 5 minutes flat....waiting for Uber took longer. By the way, paid the Uber fellow using my credit card as well.
Finally, my covid test, done in New England was a cinch. About 15 cars in line, run by a local hospital and free to boot. Thank god, there are parts of the country that are sane and works....

I read that too. I think that it is a scam from people looking for insurance money or to trick someone one out of personal information or it is a concerted effort to run up the number of Covid cases (at least in the US)

"running up" the CV19 case numbers in a "concerted effort" one at a time?
Done at a time when the number of cases in no more than a guess
as a result of insufficient testing?
Not everything is a "scam, trick" or a hoax.
Report of one case is insignificant and is likely to have a harmless explanation.
No need to go looking for conspiracies
or malicious intent.

Within the body of another thread line a reference was made to "data" available being responsible for the continued Totalitarian controls we still find ourselves living under within RD for the last SIX MONTHS.
My response, before the DR1 Daily News thread line was abruptly closed was......

I would like to see the data on how many families can only afford to eat once per day, what that meal consists of, and what they have to do in order to procure the money for that one meal.
I would like to see the data on how many families are behind on payments for their houses or apartments.
I would like to see the data on how many families are behind on payments for their autos, motores, and pasolas.
I would like to see the data on how many families are truly suffering so that we may appease "the educated lot".
Data? What a farce.

Perhaps my Coronavirus related response is better fitted/suited here, within the Coronavirus in the DR thread line, rather than the DR Daily News piece regarding the Government Curfew in place, due to Coronavirus.

Well, almost DR related because I am on the way. I flew in from Savannah Ga. today to JFK with stopover before going to the DR. Ga. is on the quarantine list (one of about 29? states) that require that you quarantine in NYC for two weeks if landing in NYC. When they started this they had a man with a badge, along with an assistant as you disembarked the plane . You were to to fill out a form stating where you would quarantine. They kept an eye on you while you filled out the form. I filled it out and handed it in. $2000 fine if you left the airport without signing the form. No penalty that I could see if you lied.
Today I landed again. Same trip to my house, change bags and back to DR. Nobody to meet and greet. Big idea by Cuomo. All gone.
My point. . . DR is not only country that changes the deal. All countries are in a confused state of mind as to what to do. Follow the leader and then change it.
Imagine, millions of people coming into NY and they want to know where you are quarantining? Good luck with that.
Test at a DR airport was the ultimate nose dive. Same problem. Big idea not thought out.

Santo Domingo, DR
The first sequences of the genome of the virus causing the Covid-19 disease circulating in the Dominican Republic were registered by Dominican researchers, determining that it has the D614G mutation in the spike protein of the virus that has been related to high transmissibility.

The finding was made by Dominican researchers in collaboration with the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), determining that the SARS-CoV-2 circulating in the country has the D614G mutation in the spike protein of the virus, which has been related to high transmissibility and with European sequences, which according to the experts, could explain why in the first months it behaved explosively.

The participating researchers were those from the Institute of Tropical Medicine & Global Health of the Ibero-American University (UNIBE), the Clinical Laboratory Reference, and the ICGEB in Italy, who registered the first SARS-CoV-2 sequences on the platform of the Global Initiative to share Influenza Data (GISAID), who also enter the sequences for SARS-CoV-2.

The information was released yesterday by Unibe and explains that GISAID allows scientists around the world to share genomic information on the diversity of multiple pathogens, including the one that causes Covid-19.

2nd highest day for new cases was on the 3rd. The graphs rise and shallow. Not much of a downward decline here.

Not sure why the numbers of pcr positives matter. Those progressing to covid and dying are the numbers that are more important. The lethality rate in the DR is actually pretty low, compared to Canada, for example. In addition, there seems to be access to ivermectin, zinc and doxycycline which seems very promising for limiting replication of the sars-cov2 virus, should it find it’s way into you. Some common sense would be nice, something not in high supply where I live ( Toronto).

Is there currently a curfew in Toronto?

PS. Everyone expects "the second wave". As the seasonal FLU comes the hospitals will report all the FLU cases as Covid, the media will eat it up and the government will impose new restrictions. 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑😂😂😂

They can refer to it as science but have yet to show any verifiable and repeatable scientific experiments that show the SAMs (stupid ass masks) statistically significantly reduce the spread of wuhan flu.
I think very early on it was Czech Republic that introduced mandatory use of masks and they where very successful in containing the virus but I don’t know if it was really proven to be thanks to the masks. Nobody really seems to know what’s up and down with this. The masks help to remember there is a pandemic and helps to social distance I guess. If it really helps as much as they say who knows but hey we have to respect the experts.

Masks of almost any type helping to reduce the spread of an airborne pathogen certainly makes sense.

Covid 19 is here, there and everywhere to stay since wearing masks is not going to eliminate Covid 19.
