Agreed but with 85% public support and most saying not enough being done in Canada , I can’t see courts throwing anything out..
I wonder about the validity of the number of those who support tighter restrictions. According to the media, most want things opened up, especially in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta.

As the vaccine injection rates increase, there will be more pressure on the provinces to relax restrictions.

In my home country there is a substantial decrease in new cases as herd immunity is starting to show signs, with a combination of previously infected and vaccinated, of being achieved. At least that is encouraging.

Perhaps that will continue here once vaccinations start, there where vaccinations are hard to schedule, and everywhere eventually until a sufficient number of people are vaccinated or previously infected and the governments use those numbers to reopen some time in 2022.

Vaccines are in short supply so stay tuned for delays everywhere regarding that reopening. Even then, the virus will still be among us, but governments will no longer have the desire to keep things close.

The pandemic impact in Canada is significantly smaller than the US, Windy. I’m expecting reopening in Canada to occur during the fall or late fall, 2021, in Canada. Especially if the current minority government is defeated. I’m an optimist and I’ll also go out on a limb and say I expect DR-Canada flights to return in May with current testing restrictions in place but no threat of a Covid concentration camp hanging over our heads if we arrive back in Canada with proof of no infection.

By March/April, injections could be available to the general public if you believe Trudeau. One might also believe there will be a ski resort on top of Pico Duarte in the near future! 😂
Less then yr from covid to vaccine..we will be fine ..way to many purchased vaccines but we will have choices where others won’t be so lucky..how’s your ski hill going :)

Believe it or not, we finally got enough snow over the past three days to open Marble Mountain. Latest opening ever. I had season passes for 15 years when I was working and living 10 minutes from the hill. Now that I’m retired and winter in the DR, I don’t think about it except when I drive by the slope. Age has caught up with me, LG. I can’t ski the moguls like I used to. As the devout nun said,”The knees are the first to go”. 😆

It's smoke and mirrors. Any pollster that has more than 10 minutes experience knows how to sku a poll. The liberal government wants support for their bad decisions they know who to go to. The opposition wants different results they go to another firm.

I wonder how many people where polled in northern Alberta or Saskatchewan. I'm guessing zero as it's minus 40 there. They want and need to escape only the government won't let them.

I personally have not believed a poll since I was about 5 years old.

Some of you actually believe that this hotel quarantine requirement will be lifted on April 30.
It won't, not as long as the Canadian population is still okay with it and co-signing it.
Especially if there is a rise in British variant cases.

So don't get too excited about your trip in May lol.

Hate to tell you but after getting the covid vaccine, I will be going on a trip regardless of what Justin has to say about it.

The deal for Air Canada to buy Air Transat for $190 million has been approved by the Canadian government. Air Transat flies thousands of Canadian tourist to the DR annually and POP is one of their main drop off points. Air Transat vacations book space at all the resorts in the Playa Dorada, Cabarete, Sosua area.

Air Canada is required to maintain Air Transat Corporate headquarters in Montreal and maintain the brand. The aircraft will still have the Air Transat livery. Still a very sweet deal for Air Canada at that pandemic price.

"Costs of these hotel stays may vary slightly at each location. It is up to the traveller to choose where they wish to stay and book in advance of departure," said Hajdu.

What I see is.... If you don't book a "Quarantine" room YOUR SELF.... Don't bother getting on the airplane to go home.

You must pre-book, before departing, a 3 day stay at a Quarantine Hotel (paid, all 3 days)
-if get negative results, you can go home to quarantine, BUT you can't fly on to your home for 3 days

It looks like you will book and pay for a room for 3 days.... whether or not you stay in it for all 3 days

Hajdu says, “Travelers will need to book a hotel in the City in which they first arrived in Canada. If they receive a negative result on their arrival test, they will be able to take a connecting flight to their final destination (after the three-day quarantine).”

Hajdu adds, “Air travelers will also be required to reserve, prior to departure to Canada, a three-night stay in a government authorized hotel. Travelers will be required to stay at their reserved hotel for up to three nights, at their own cost, while they await the results of their arrival test.”

**************************************

Trudeau says returning Canadians without a negative test won’t be refused entry because they are already on Canadian territory.

However, he says they can be fined up to $3,000 or even face jail time.

I wonder if that applies to no pre-booked Hotel?

People who travel for essential reasons or those returning after long term employment or living outside of Canada should get tested but should be permitted to self quarantine as per their submitted quarantine plan without having to stay at a hotel first. After all these people will still need a negative test to get on the plane and anyone who is positive can be scooped up from their home as soon as the positive result is known. I get the message don't go on vacation but I don't understand why Canada wants to make it so hard and costly for Canadians who want to repatriate. One size approach does not fit all. Especially those travelling with pets or excess personal belongings. I wonder if the cost is per room or per person? If you can only leave the room for 15 minutes a day, it had better be a multi-room suite. I can't imagine two people sequestered in the same standard one room hotel space for up to three days lying on the bed watching TV to pass all that time. Even if someone here wanted to get to Canada before Feb 22, too bad, no Canadian flights.
