DR1 was founded about 1999. It quickly became THE place for current information and happenings in the DR. Up to a few years ago you could ask any question about the DR and get an informative answer from someone here that actually went through what you are asking.

Now too much “information” is posted by people touting us on their opinions of the future. Some could be right, the same as predicting the weather a year in advance. Most are wrong.

I propose a new forum where the prognosticators can ply their wares without polluting the threads that the rest of us who are looking to find out about vaccine availability, places to purchase certain hard to find things, etc.

Let them congregate and express their futuristic ideas there.

I joined in 2010 and used for a few years did not interact on the forum then much, but occasionally but it was the same then. I did not use again till March last year and it was like I had never been away. You still have to scrape through the dross i'm afraid

Mi esposa doesn’t like me reading or posting on DR1..😬so the type of information we used to get on DR1 now comes mainly from IG , FB groups and even LinkedIn groups where anonymity is somewhat reduced ... 🥸.

New forum? This idea has been floated on here many times over the years..some have tried ...and failed ....but who knows ?

Most are wrong? So what? Isn't that called "discussion"? Having an opinion on something is going to be banned because it might be a wrong opinion?

On another note, before DR1 was DR1 there was the Santo Domingo News, the true beginning of DR1.
