With Si No Vac having less efficacy than the vaccines in the UK, what will happen here? Time will tell.
CV19 is here, there and everywhere to stay. The world stock markets don't like that Delta India Bravo variant.

This is not to say that the vaccines don't do a reasonable job of preventing death and serious illness, just that they are not and were never claimed to be fully effective by medical experts. What politicians say has been a different story.

In clinical trials, if 50% of the placebo group and 50% of the vaccine group test positive, the vaccine is said to have 0% efficacy. The UK is seeing 60%/40%, so very low efficacy for the vaccines against the Delta variant.

England's chief medical officer warned that Covid hospitalisations were doubling every three weeks and could hit "scary numbers" in future.

"I think saying the numbers in hospital are low now, that does not mean the numbers will be low in hospital in five, six, seven, eight weeks' time.

Can you post links from UK Ministry of health, or reputable UK news sources that confirm those stats.

So far we only have a claim form a Questionable US source and you spreading it, as it seems to confirm your bias.

Yes, looking at the other articles on this "news source's" website, it certainly seems to have questionable agendas.

No this isn't correct. The UK has fully vaccinated 70% of its population. The vaccines are protecting this 70% against getting Covid compared to the 30% who haven't been fully vaccinated, which is clear from the statistic that only 40% of hospital admissions are from fully vaccinated people. If the vaccinations weren't effective, we would expect 70% of hospital admissions to be from people who were fully vaccinated.

Chris Whitty who is the chief medical officer for the UK said it yesterday, it was widely reported in the UK and on the BBC news.

It is not about how many people were vaccinated or the percentage. Sir Patrick has corrected himself. I have no confirmation bias on this one way or the other as some seem to think. The guy simply made a mistake.

My "bias" , or controversial position, is that people who aren't vaccinated in North America, GB, the EU and yes, even in the DR are on their own since few more are going to get vaccinated and those places have all provided ample time to be vaccinated. The DR government will be waiting forever and ever in most Provinces if 70% is the reopening time. And they will make up 70% numbers in key provinces so they are fully open.

You make good points!

Fear of dying usually is a good motivator, for those with some brain cells left.
Meanwhile delta is getting many unvaccinated clogging hospitals and the virus is spreading and mutating.
Good luck for those with important surgeries, hope your team is not too exhausted (of course in the developed world, the rest is f....d anyways)

We can only watch what will happen.
Get vaccinated or not, wear a mask or not.
We will see who had a good plan to survive and who made the right choices economically.

"In clinical trials, if 50% of the placebo group and 50% of the vaccine group have symptoms, the vaccine is said to have 0% efficacy. The UK is seeing 60%/40%, so very low efficacy for the vaccines against the Delta variant."

In clinical trials it is correct since the two groups are the same size - zero percent efficacy. Not sure exactly what the efficacy would be in the UK where you have 70/30, but if the 60%/40% were correct, it would be very alarming, especially since it's about hospitalizations. If that were the case, efficacy would be very low.

If you have 10,000 new cases per day and 10% were vaccinated, is that better than having 100 cases per day and 40% were vaccinated?

If 100% of the population was vaccinated, that would mean 100% of the new cases and 100% of the hospitalizations were vaccinated.
Totally meaningless in and of itself.

No doubt lower cases are better, but if infection is increasing among those vaccinated, it's cause for some concern.
